If you object too loudly, if you make a scene, you risk legitimizing their activities and drawing more attention to something that should just be ignored as an immature, improper mode of behavior in the first place. You risk other idiots wondering if there's something to their message.

A facebook group, especially if it is a popular one, will only serve to advertise the WBC and to spread their message of hate, to spread their beliefs and spread their word.

IMO, while the intentions are honourable, it is a mistake to join a such a group.

This is just my opinion, but I think Heath's memory would be far far better served by ignoring this hate group and otherwise diverting your time, effort and money into charities which Heath was involved in during his life.

Make his memory live on by avoiding conflict and negativity and doing something good. I know your intentions are noble, but they only serve the WBC.

Donate or help out in some of the charities he was involved in. That is a far better testament to him.

If you feel the need to in someway remember him.

I'll try not to dwell on the subject of religion, but I'll offer my two cents.

As a Christian, I see no validity in the statements of the WBC. None whatsoever. They are scum.

I'm a Christian, yes. But I don't view homosexuality as "evil". The way I see it, what made Jesus Christ such an inspirational figure, is that he taught people to step away from their dusty books and their prejudices, and look into their own hearts, and do what they knew to be truly right. To stop niggling over the wording of the scriptures, and start embracing their overall intention, to spread the love of God.

Jesus saw the good in people that the religious institutions condemned as outcasts. The prostitutes, the tax collectors, the lepers. Why shouldn't we do the same?

I look into my heart, and I know in my heart that hatred and exclusion of homosexuality is not right. Why would God hate love? Why would he hate two people who love each other? As a Christian, I see the trend of casual sex with no emotional connection as worse than homosexuality. A loving, devoted couple, who want to share their lives together, would - in my opinion - be a credit to the ranks of any Church congregation, regardless of the gender of said couple.

As more and more of you are learning, the Westboro Baptist Church is protesting - yes PROTESTING - Heath's church. These people are disgusting. They are repulsive. These people should not be able to cause Heath's loved ones any more harm.

So we should organize. Our Joker needs his crew one more time.

I am not sure where the funeral is (any google search I do is filled with notices about Westboro). We have people in New York. We have people near Hollywood.

I live in Florida, and even toying with the idea of trying to bus up to New York for a day - depending on my schedule.

But if we can organize to run to cake stores, mapping the country to take pictures of buildings, capturing at least a picture of every scene shot in Chicago - we can certainly do this.
