I'm sure he wants it, and i wouldn't be surprised if it still happens.

Has Matt Reeves ever gone to Comic Con. I'm just wondering if there would be the possibility at all of a formal announcement.

Now there's a rumor that Ben wants to stick around!

This guy has had reliable rumors in the past.

Brah I just want it to end.

I know, right? I would love Ben to stay just because I really feel like he would do a great job under good direction, but at this point I just want to hear something official in the form of a press release.

I can't believe they've let this rumor fester for almost a year now.

Boooo. I’m so over this honeydicking phase. :down

As much as I loved his take, he’s not the type of actor worth all these headaches from his flip-flopping. I’m sure Hamada and co. pitched a really great projection which made Ben excited again. But there’s no telling what his feelings will be a year from now, or when something unexpected occurs.

He’s real precious about his image and every time he’s the face of something reviled, he sinks and runs away. Nah. That’s not who I want leading a star vehicle and entire brand.

Never. :o

If he's only willing to sign on for one film then there is zero point in keeping him.

If it's true Ben will likely renegotiate a new contract with additional terms. If I had to guess, final cut privileges between him or the director.

I can't see any other scenario where WB would be willing to play ball. But if Ben is more assured in the direction of his tenure, and the plan will actually stick this time, that's a way for both parties to come to terms.

Still, I'm so soured on this ordeal. I don't like knowing in the back of my mind our lead actor has shown to not be 100% committed when times get rough.

Justice League soured me on him. My overall feelings on BvS aside, I actually did enjoy his performance there. But he just flat-out phoned it in with JL and didn't even try to hide it. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Look, if two weeks from now it's announced that he's signed on to a Batman trilogy with Reeves at the helm, I'd probably be able to get back to a place where I was excited to see him stay. I'm not going to lie about that. But after the constant back-and-forth for the last year, I'm just burned out right now, to the point where I'd simply like to see a new actor come in without any baggage. And if he only came back on a one-year deal, that's only going to piss me off.

Wow, so a Batman movie that I skip in theaters. Interesting. If he does come back, maybe that's why Jake is saying that. The original rumour was that Jake's the first choice for Reeves but only if Affleck is gone.

He really has 0 other options. His last non-Batman film FLOPPED huge. He's currently doing a film with the guy who did A Most Violent Year.

I used to be in the “either commit to the role long term or leave” camp

But now I just want him gone regardless, this song and dance has gone on too long. Time to get someone who’s in this for the long haul.

Nothing has changed. We shall see.

Let me get this straight, though...because the media and fans have created drama around whether Ben will extend a contract he signed...he should leave the role even if he wants to stay in it and they can come to terms? That's why he should leave?

The long haul? He's already played Batman in as many films as any other actor has, except for the animated voice actors.

Yes, you know exactly what I mean by the long haul. And that isn’t a hard feat to top when the record is 3. It’s a cinematic universe, you want to keep the guy in there as long as you can. Even with his personal problems which I totally understand, The constant rumors of him wanting out are just annoying at this point.

would really like to get some concrete info on this soon, it’s been a while since JL and I think enough time has passed to where a decision should be made in regards to the reeves solo.

Hopefully comic con or before

If Affleck were to try and get final cut privileges over Matt Reeves, that isn't going to work out well for him. Reeves already made his powerplay for full creative control in negotiating for the director job over a year ago.

From the looks of it, the guy who's bringing up this rumor doesn't sound as fully confident in it as he has his previous scoops. Meanwhile, El Fanboy's been saying the past several days that he's heard more definitive takes that "Affleck is out" from his sources.

Personally I want Affleck out. I'm sick of the drama and despite how great he was in BvS, the man is not worth all of this back-and-forth. There's plenty of other great actors out there that can do as great a job as Affleck or better.

If he can't do multiple sequels after The Batman then I don't want Ben Affleck back. Plain and simple; the dude is not THAT special as an actor. Director? Absolutely. Actor? Not so much.

Affleck just needs to go.
I don’t want years of phoned in performances and his wushy washy bs

I don't think it really matters how Affleck feels on the matter by now. If Reeves wants to continue with Affleck, it'll happen, if Reeves is committed to someone else WB's going to back him and can Ben.

It may be more of a case of WB not wanting to burn their bridges with him with regards to potential non-DC related projects. They don't want to fire him , yet they don't want him back in the role either.

Its likely Reeves film won't be in theaters till 2020 at the earliest, so there may not be a rush to cast the role to begin with. As a result, Affleck may effectively still be in the role, but not in any film, until an eventually recast happens.

That could be in a couple of years , assuming WB is patient enough to let Reeves move at his own pace. So we may be hearing alot of back and forth news for a while before the project really gets moving.

I thought Reeves was doing his own thing that wasn’t connected to the DCFU?
