Eddie, if you're going to cast an actor from New Girl as Bruce Wayne, there really is only one choice.

Well, nobody, but on paper Affleck sort of ticks all of the boxes. I don't know I'd call him "out of left field" the way, say, Keaton was. Or, yeah, Ledger as Joker.

I still don't know why they nabbed Affleck. It was his directing that was highlighted in The Town/Argo, not his acting.

For me, it's either Jake G or a complete unknown/rising actor.

Well, I've started watching Mad Men. Remember my fancast of Scott Adkins?

Yeah, **** that. Give me Jon Hamm. I do not care about him being older than Affleck. If Tom Cruise can keep doing Mission Impossible at 55, Jon Hamm can be Batman.

Give me Jon Hamm as Batman, he is so perfect, acting wise, it is actually scary.

And he's about as intimidating as an Olsen twin. :P

Being older-end-of-acceptable is the least of the problems with Hamm.

Jon Hamm would be great. Especially if he's playing the same Batman as Batfleck. It's an easy transition. He's the perfect guy for an older Batman.

Well, there's that, Astro. :oldrazz: I dunno, I was mostly being facetious, but still. He has the look down perfectly for Bruce, probably more than any other actor out there. He's even 6'2"!

Obviously can do the sophistication stuff for Bruce and the playboy aspect, he can believably portray intelligent as Bats.

I dunno, just something about the damn guy. He's sort of like Gosling - he's played villainous roles before, he's done "intense", I just can't for the life of me take it seriously. Keaton could be scary, Bale could be scary, hell, Affleck for all his issues can be scary.

Don Draper screaming at someone and intending to break their legs is still just somehow Don Draper though. :woot: Not his fault, he's just...yeah. We need someone who can do borderline-crazy again, get some of that "LET'S GET NUTS!" thing in play.

To be honest, that's less an issue with his acting capabilities and more with him being typecast, in my opinion. I definitely think he's capable of being **** your pants scary, personally.

Even then, I don't think going by just his most well known work is the best call for judging his range. I mean, before Ledger played the Joker he was most well known for Brokeback Mountain, A Knight's Tale and 10 Things I Hate About You. Not exactly...Joker material. Yet, TDK came out and he knocked it out of the goddamn park. I honestly think Hamm is very capable of doing the exact same.

I'd love Hamm (and love ham) but I wrote him off a while back because I thought I heard something about him not being interested in superhero roles.

I started watching a couple of months ago. I'm on the antepenultimate episode of the last season now.

Agreed. Also, he doesn't look much different/older today than he did at the height of Mad Men's popularity.

This is the first trailer from Beirut, one of his upcoming films.

I still want Hamm, but if they do go younger I think Toby Kebbell would be great.

Hamm doesn’t seem interested in SH movies. Besides, at this point I think I’d prefer he play Maxwell Lord in a Cold War set Wonder Woman sequel or JLI movie.

I love Jon Hamm and he was my pick back in 2013, but he really doesn't seem like the guy who would commit to a role like this, especially the physical aspect.

A shame, because he just has the perfect Bruce Wayne look and knows how to play dark characters. Great deep voice for Batman too.

If Earth One Batman's physique is acceptable, then Hamm would be fine. I don't need a superbuff Batman. We already got the Frank Miller Batman, I'm ready for a slimmer Batman. Hamm's physique is fine.

He's about Val Kilmer's size in Batman Forever.

Hamm did just recently say he wants the Batman role. So there's that.

Unfortunately, the source of said rumor doesn't have the most reliable track record.

He did have nice things to say about Gal's performance as WW, though. So, maybe he's warming to the genre.
