I wouldn't mind it.

But I know most people here still think of him as that dude from Twilight, but he's been making some great films recently like with Good Time.

He's also completely unrecognizable in The Lost City of Z.

If Affleck can turn in a performance that’s more BVS than JL, then I wouldn’t mind getting him back. I’ve been rewatching BVS, and he truly kicks ass there.

Gyllenhaal was one of my top choices for this. Bummer.

Gosling would be a dream come true but there’s no way he’d sign on

Laurence Fishburne played Perry White in the DCEU, is also Black Goliath for the MCU.
Clancy Brown played characters in DC CW, Marvel Netflix, and was Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok.

I won't dismiss the possibility of another MCU Spider-Man villain being played by a Batman actor, so I won't throw the possibility of Jake G being Batman any time soon.

I recognized him with ease.

Pattinson could make for an interesting pick! Dude's also co-starring alongside Willem Dafoe in the next Robert Eggers film, The Lighthouse, so that might help improve his reputation among folks too.

I'm still hoping this doesn't mean Affleck's coming back. I loved him in BvS and I know he could always do another great job, but after all of this drama, I think it's best for Warner Bros to cut ties with him here and now. Because honestly, even if we get Affleck back for another film, I don't see him sticking around for the next decade. We're going to have to recast him as Batman at some point- I'd argue it's easier to rip the bandaid off now and move on.

Yeah, doesn't sound like Jake had the Batman job 100% secured if he wanted it, wasn't that far along, but plenty of places were reporting he'd at least been approached. From memory a few were in agreement he was Reeve's guy in mind too.

I guess at least we might have a baseline then for what "types" they're looking at, general age and resume/experience and star profile.

We have hit rock bottom.
Rock bottom? The movie is still being written and directed by Matt Reeves, how is that rock bottom? I think we're in the best hands. Just because we don't have all the details doesn't mean we've hit rock bottom.

If Reeves drops out then there'll be a reason to panic.

Guess I'll roll with Jon Hamm then.

I just wish they could convince Gosling
Same. I can see Hamm getting it. This doesn't mean Jake won' get it though since they shoot next year maybe? Just look at Brolin pulling double duty, Thanos and Cable all around the same month. It's insane. So i wouldn't rule it out just yet. And maybe he can still play the character down the line.

They should have just tossed Snyder after Man of Steel, focused more on solo movies and built up the shared universe properly with either Josh Brolin as the older Bats or Gyllenhaal as the younger Bats. Gadot, Cavill, Momoa, Gosling as Flash and Mahershala Ali as Green Lantern. Oh well.

Would lose my mind if Gosling was announced as a separate Batman, signed to a possible new Reeves trilogy. Can you imagine the backflips we would do?

I'm easing up on the idea of sticking with an older Batman, even for a trilogy of films. At the end of the day, these actors have access to the finest nutritionists and trainers on the planet. Not to mention the magic of makeup and stunt doubles. Getting a guy to play Batman into his mid-fifties isn't really all that infeasible. You know, provided that their heart is in it.

With that in mind, I'd be down for Jon Hamm.
