Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 3

Yeah, I don't ever want to see ManBat unless it's a teamup film. I'd prefer the villains in Batman's solo films to not have superpowers. That's also why I don't want to see Clayface.

As for Black Mask, yeah, there are plenty of "dark mirror images of Bruce" out there that are more interesting than him. Also (and this is superficial, but so what), could they have given him a more generic name than "Black Mask"? That's like if Superman had been called "Red Cape" and Batman was named "Eared Cowl." Plus it makes me think of that stupid Jet Li movie from the 90s. Yeah, I know the comic book character came first, but anything that reminds me of Jet Li's acting is a bad thing.

You could definitely do far worse than Bentley. I guess my main reservation is I've seen him work well as a supporting player, but I've really never seen him carry a movie. Doesn't mean he can't do it of course, and maybe I just need to watch the right thing to have it click for me.

Yeah, but a lot of the supporting roles he's had stood out. I guess you could say that he was kind of the main character in American Horror Story: Hotel, or at least he was one of three or four central characters.

This kind of sucks half the fun out of batman imo. We just got the nolan franchise which was devoid of anything fantastical. I'm hoping for a blend of noir hard detective stuff and comic booky supervillains. Give me Mr. freeze, clay face, ivy, man bat, firefly, joker who is full tilt crazy and zany, ra's al guhl with the Lazarus pit. I'd love to see them find a way to reasonably involve mob boss style villains with the supervillains.

Yeah, ManBat, as a character, always seemed a little too on the nose for my liking.

While on the subject of villains, Legion's David Nagahban would make for a pretty impressive Ra's in my opinion.

Give them all to me, except for ManBat. It's just a Dr. Jekyll ripoff, who just so happens to be a kind of analog to Batman. Batman villains are already cheesy as it is, but ManBat just goes over the edge for me. It's just a little too on the nose for me.

I always wondered why in cartoons they never showed him as an ally with his full mind in his mutated form, I'd love to see him adapted as someone different from the Lizard if they put him on film.

Man-Bat is fine for comics, cartoons, and video games, but I can't say the desire to see him in a live-action film is very strong for me.

Anything is possible if you get the right people to do it. Man-Bat can work in live action if you they don't rely on every shot with CG.

I would use man bat In a small capacity. And I'd already make him man bat, give a little exposition for why he is what he is. Visually he'd be really cool.

I'm fine with ManBat if we get Batzarro at some point. :D

Gah, Michael Shannon should have been Bizarro from the start, or they should have had Zod turn into Bizarro instead of The Abomination.

Zod turning into Bizarro is an excellent idea compared to the plot device that so many fellow 90s kids love for some reason. Doomsday isn't even worthy of being called a character.

Agreed, Shannon would have made a great Bizarro. It was a mistake to use General Zod again right out of the gate, because people had seen it before. It would have been better if they gradually built up to him over a series of films.

"Where did you learn to fight? ON A FARM?"
I really love his Zod and that line, prefer this version to the Terrence Stamp one.

I'd love to see Killer Croc as the villain, and a moment like this

But not with the tail, I don't like what that out of nowhere HUSH virus that affected him and was ignored in later stories to appear on film.

I still want to see a form of Batman and the Monster Men so we can get some of Batman's more sci-fi villains in there. I know people want them and that's a good way to use guys like Clayface, Man-Bat, and Solomon Grundy while also using Hugo Strange.

I’m all for the more horror inspired villains like Clayface, Man-Bat, Scarecrow, and Killer Croc.

A slightly altered adaptation of Batman and the Monster Men is pretty much the perfect way to introduce Hugo Strane and Clayface (my preferred combination of villains for the reboot)

Brainiac would have been the perfect choice for the reboot. Before MOS, most fans were in agreement that we wanted Brainiac and Luthor as our villains. General Zod was a big mistake. I would’ve been fine if we never saw him again. Stamp’s awesome Zod was enough. They should’ve given us something new.

The villain of Man of Steel should have been Mister Mxyzptlk and the next Batman movie should feature The Bat-Mite.

I'm still waiting on Shannon's Frankenstein.

remember when larry david was rumored to play mr mxyzptlk in batman vs superman

fun times.
