Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 3

Back when we all had hope and optimism.

Remember when Ben Affleck was confirmed as the director of The Batman?

I wasn't even that hyped and I'm kinda glad he's not directing...

I always had it that manbat never existed - he was more like a keyser soze character.

Langstorm makes a serum (due to going death) that he hopes heightens his hearing, from bats - but it just gives him this rabid style rage when triggered.

So all these horrible acts happen around gotham and it looks like a werewolf has been let loose and then these testimonies come in that its this giant man bat. We never see the actual attack, we just hear about it after and obviously when the victim or whoever tells the story, we see their version of events, so each time man bat can look different and fantastical - bruce isn't buying it, tracks it down to Kirk Langstrom and interrogates him and when triggered he acts out - but bruce has an anecdote and cures him - bruce explains to kirk (or Robin after back in the cave) that he was mildly schizophrenic and hallucinating due to the rage. As the camera zooms over gotham, we actually see that distinct silhouette of man bat in the sky - just to mess with people.

If anything, he should join the MCU. They have a history of recruiting former DC characters
Nicole Kidman joined the cast of Aquaman, I can see George Clooney returning to another DC movie, assuming it is a good one.

I'm sure there's a spot in the mcu somewhere, but I like the idea of him as Gordon. He's the right age and it'd be kind of full circle for him.

Wasn’t Colin Firth suggested for Alfred here or in some other thread before? If Clooney’s Gordon, I want Firth as Alfred. That would be dreamy.

I hate Black Mask. That character feels like the creation of a 15 year old who thinks what a Batman villain is like and misses all the truly interesting things about them.

Isn't Doug Moench one of the best Batman writers though?

Bentley would have worked in Batman Begins or even in a Batman Year One film.

He could still easily be a villain in this film.

Damn shame Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't want the role. He could have been the BEST.

Yeah, I'm not following Kev's logic. Bentley's only two years older than JG. Reeves' film doesn't necessitate a novice take on the character anyway. A Batman in his prime would do nicely and is even preferable in my opinion.

-He's black-haired and blue-eyed.
-He's 5'11", so in the suit he'd clear 6'0" easily.
-He's 39 years old, and has aged considerably well. You could get 10 years out of him and he'd still come in under 50 years old by the time he finishes up in the role.
-He's not exactly a "household" name that comes with a ton of baggage.
-He's a talented actor to boot.

And he comes with the Christopher Nolan stamp of approval (for whatever that's worth).

Also, having watched most of AHS: Hotel, I need an Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth movie in my life now.

Any thoughts on Adam Driver? Admittedly not too knowledgeable about SW or the films, but Driver already has an impressive list of performances ranging from comedic to dramatic, indie to blockbuster.

As Batman? Can't see it.

Like Keaton, Adam Driver would provide a really interesting, non-assuming and maybe even slightly comedic Bruce Wayne that would be a nice counterbalance to Batman.

Right now, the biggest question mark in my mind is whether he could be convincing underneath the cowl, but I'm leaning towards yes.

I can't really see Driver being the type to want to be a part of a second huge franchise. He seems a little difficult as a person too, eccentric or whatever, not sure they'd want to deal with all that given DC's on their back foot a little with successes here.

Great actor though.

And yeah, while Bentley wouldn't be a pick of mine, his age definitely isn't a factor, of course he's young enough.

Adam Driver is an intriguing choice. I definitely think he has the range to pull it off.

How are we feeling about Finn Wittrock lately?
