Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

General question, independent of this particular casting process:

When you think of Batman, of what age to you picture him?

I think of him in "current time" as being in his late 30's.

Starting being batman in his mid-late twenties, (at 30 at the latest, like in the nolanverse).

The animated series is still the first thing that comes to mind for me, so mid-to-late thirties.

Late thirties to very early forties.

More from Robles on the rumored choice he's still keeping "close to the chest" for the time being.

Note: This isn't Harington; it's apparently a different guy altogether.

Who... is this guy?

Between 33 and 35.

If we're talking pre-Batfamily, sure 20s-30s.
After seeing almost all of his sidekicks grow to be adults + finding out he knocked up Talia a decade or so after the fact...late 40s as the youngest.

I thought at some point it was established that Bruce was 25 in Batman: Year One, which may or may not be accurate, but that's what it's been in my head all these years for when Batman first started out. Which means, reading stories where he's been Batman for years and has established the Batfamily and all that, I imagine him in his mid-thirties.

due to batfleck, and i guess, keaton i always pictured batman in his forties - it was only really bale who bought it down, when they tried to age him up for rises, i wasn't convinced.

I actually wish they had gone with Brolin instead of Batfleck - there's no way in hell the reshoots would have come off so forced (with the humour) etc as it did with Batfleck.

Always sort of came off to be like Snyder himself actually did want Brolin for it, but it was Brolin who wasn't interested. Not sure if there's anything to support that, just sort of how I read it between the lines at the time.

It wouldn't have been any better though, the actor was never the problem.

I'm still pulling for a left-field candidate. Gosling, pass. Hammer, pass. Any GOT actor who in any way fits the bill, pass.

I want Reeves to really make a discovery all his own, rather than wear down any guy who already receives a **** ton of franchise offers.

Pretty much where I'm at with it, too. I don't have anything against a "name" actor, it's just that personally none of them circulating so far are clicking with me. Could have got on board with Gyllenhaal though, ideal, but it would have worked.

Some completely-out-of-nowhere actor that has a resume but nobody's thrown around as an idea so far would be encouraging.

I've started considering Tom Pelphrey for the part lately. He has elevated mediocre writing on Iron Fist for two seasons now, but the thing he really impressed me in was the TV series Banshee. He played a former skinhead who tried to atone for his sins by becoming a Deputy and trying to bring down his former gang. Pelphrey showed some real intensity and rage, coupled with a vulnerability that I think would work well for Batman.

I think of Batman anywhere between 30-45.

I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing... but is it just me or does he look like Keanu Reeves and John Leguizamo had a kid? lol

I thought tough-guy Timothy Hutton.

I was thinking he looked more like a cocktail of Taylor Kitsch, James D'Arcy, and Keanu Reeves.

Hummmmmm interesting. A young batman isn't much on our minds then.

Well, with Cavill gone I can’t imagine they’re gonna keep Ben for too much longer.
