Only thing I have to say to people equating Ben leaving to “grief” on /r/DC_Cinematic
I see what you're saying. Makes more sense. No, I think when guessing Reeves' age preference, Kroll offered his source two options, and the SOURCE responded "too young, too old." So Reeves has a very narrow age range in mind.
If Reeve is that specific, he's got to be gunning for a precise target. I've a feeling I won't be over-the-moon with whomever is cast, but this news pumps up my faith in whoever it is Matt vouches for.
If they can make his height work, O'Connell is perhaps the most intriguing prospect.
I think the studio wants Hammer. They've been wanting him since 2004
Just my two cents on O'Connell. I think he'd be great, but he'd require some camera trickery to put it mildly.Where is this coming from? Or is he your choice?
Hammer is only 32!? Christ. They can get a trilogy out of him, no problem.
Steven Yeun and Jamie Bell. Yes, it is true. I am Matt Reeves.MFR of Revenge of the Fans just tweeted that the names he hears are eyebrow raising and is cautioning to have an open mind, and that Matt Reeves clearly has a specific look in mind, but that they make him want to scream internally.
We’re in for a doozy.
I have a feeling Armie Hammer was the 2nd name Kroll threw out, which elicited the "too old" response from his source. And he probably suggested some 25-year-old first that got a "too young." I'm thinking 27-30 is probably what he's looking at.
Like I said, I believe that's his range because that's the age of his picks. I don't think he's interested in Hammer. And based on that MFR tweet, he probably doesn't want a safe, conventional-looking choice, so his disinterest in Hammer would have nothing to do with his age anyway. But is the difference between 30 and 32 really that significant that Matt Reeves would immediately discount someone as a potential candidate for a role? Just seems stupid to be so hung up on the age of the actor exactly matching what the character is written as. Especially when "Hollywood age" usually looks 5-10 years younger than they actually are anyways...
I agree, he would be a really good choice and he's grown so much as an actor since he was cast in 2007 for Justice League Mortal. Dread it, run from it, destiny still arrivesAgreed! I feel like he has the potential to satisfy mostly everyone. Looks similar enough to Affleck that the zealots can head canon their way into thinking he’s the same Batman.
I would still say what I said I'd say if he were cast...but I still wouldn't be a huge fan of Nick Hoult as a choice either, lol. But yeah, I firmly believed that report that said O'Connell was his fave (because he just seems like the type of actor Reeves would be all about), and I also believe this Hoult report, because I can see how those choices would be for the same take on the character. So for that reason, I definitely believe the "age range" we're talking about here is 27-30. But really that's just the age range of Reeves' top picks, not a mandate. And I'm sure the studio wants to push for Armie Hammer, hence the "studio wants older" report. That Mario guy isn't reliable and he just throwing things on the wall. He seems to be going off that Mayimbe tweet. Hoult as Batman would take an open mind type casting for me and a lot of general bat fans. lol
