If we're throwing in names like Pattinson and Pettyfer why not another Brit, a bit newer on the scene- Joe Alwyn (age 27 height 6ft 1):

Pattinson has dull look about him even in best pics I can find, and he has charisma of a brick wall.

And, If Seann Penn is Alfred, I fear how other Gotham criminals look.

I can understand other reasons people bring up as to why they don't like Hoult for the role. But I don't buy this as being one of them. The guy was just in "The Favourite" and he was in "Mad Max Fury Road." He makes interesting choices with his movies and roles. Many are small, experimental or arthouse, some don't get noticed, many are offbeat. Then he's in an ensemble supporting role like Beast in X-Men. Next he's playing J.R.R. Tolkien.
He's a decent actor. He was amazing in The Favourite. But he's better in supporting roles than as the lead in a big studio flick.

Well, Hollywood is full of stories about second chances. I'm curious to at least explore him, I don't necessarrily want him but he intrigues me a bit.
they also have given 2nd/3rd chances to countless "pretty looking white boys who can't act"

I wouldn't give him a single consideration for Batman. We can do far better.

Why does everyone hate Pettyfer? He seems like a genuinely cool guy. I'd crack open a beer with him

Goode is not Batman material I'm afraid, as talented as he is and I loved him as Ozzy in WM, he's not 'built' for Batman, Bruce maybe but even with months of training, 'gritty s**t-kicker' is not his thing.

I really don't know who my choice to follow Ben would be, some actors have one side, some the others, but for me, there isn't one specific actor who 'stands' for all 3 aspects of the character, out there at the moment.

If they're not intending to go younger, it's Justin Theroux or bust. :o

Armie Hammer.
Jack O'Conell.
Jeremy Irvine.
Alex Pettyfer
Jonathan Groff.
Robert Pattinson.
My choices.

This should make some of you happy

Wow...I just threw his name into the conversation because I think he's under-rated (he should have been nominated for an Oscar for Good Time)...and I think that he looks naturally dark and brooding, and can pull off anything required of Bruce Wayne. The fact that they are actually looking at him as a potential Batman is cool.

But again...any number of actors would be fine for the role.
