Can't speak for anyone else, but the Twilight thing isn't really a part of that for me. Agreed it's ridiculous to use that as the be-all-end-all of a guy's career (like what, the Harry Potter kid doesn't get to do anything dark & serious?), it's a stupid metric, the guy's 10 years older or whatever and has done plenty of work since.
I just...can't find him threatening, like at all, personally. Just me. He has that whole effete heroin-chic pasty-sensitive-fashionista vibe to him, even now somehow. Having a little trouble thinking of comparative actors, maybe Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, that type of thing. Talented, arguably, and I've actually liked plenty of stuff they're in, I just...
Ehh. Can't see myself being scared of the guy in a dark alley, even if he had been hitting the gym. *Shrugs*
Although hey, to be fair, everyone was saying the same about Keaton, so...
Stranger things have happened. Pattinson could even probably pull it off, I just can't wrap my head around it on paper. Even with Ledger-Joker I could kind of see where they were going with it, and going a whole different direction with Aquaman casting, that type of thing. Just, I dunno, personally can't fathom a world where I'd find Pattison an intimidating presence.
But again, Keaton, so yeah.
