Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

Nothing against Pattinson, but he is just not batman, Maybe Riddler, in about 20 years, once he is no longer a teen.

I really enjoy Daredevil. It's the best Marvel Netflix series by a lot, but Charlie Cox isn't my favorite part of the show. I would've been curious to see who Marvel would go with if it'd been a movie instead and they weren't as limited by budget concerns. I'm definitely not down for him as Batman.

Most people are just aware of Twilight, you can't really blame them for their ignorance. He's by far one of the more exciting options for the role though. He or Armie are the best options right now. I really think early 30s is the right age, anything younger than that just doesn't feel right.

Yeah im with you on that. For me I have to be able to believe he has spent the last 20+ years of his life turning his mind and body in to a weapon.

With Bale and Affleck I could believe that no problem.

Is this going to be another Heath Ledger situation? Ignorant people only see Pattinson as the guy that played in those horrible twilight movies. Acting like that’s the only thing he has done in his career.

Can't speak for anyone else, but the Twilight thing isn't really a part of that for me. Agreed it's ridiculous to use that as the be-all-end-all of a guy's career (like what, the Harry Potter kid doesn't get to do anything dark & serious?), it's a stupid metric, the guy's 10 years older or whatever and has done plenty of work since.

I just...can't find him threatening, like at all, personally. Just me. He has that whole effete heroin-chic pasty-sensitive-fashionista vibe to him, even now somehow. Having a little trouble thinking of comparative actors, maybe Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, that type of thing. Talented, arguably, and I've actually liked plenty of stuff they're in, I just...

Ehh. Can't see myself being scared of the guy in a dark alley, even if he had been hitting the gym. *Shrugs*

Although hey, to be fair, everyone was saying the same about Keaton, so...

Stranger things have happened. Pattinson could even probably pull it off, I just can't wrap my head around it on paper. Even with Ledger-Joker I could kind of see where they were going with it, and going a whole different direction with Aquaman casting, that type of thing. Just, I dunno, personally can't fathom a world where I'd find Pattison an intimidating presence.

But again, Keaton, so yeah.

No you see, Ledger was older than I was when he played the Joker.

Pattinson is my age, and looks it. I can´t have a batman of my age or younger than me. That'd mean I didn't became batman and that's unacceptable.

Also, Pattinson is a good actor.

I’m not taking any shot at anyone on here. Just the stuff I’ve seen on Twitter and Facebook, dumb comments. No surprise.

At this point I'm pretty much open to whoever they go for. Having followed the casting of a new Batman going back to when Keaton was recast, I really don't have any name in particular of who should or shouldn't this time around.

My guess is that, as usual ,WB will want a bigger name/ celebrity personality type like Ben Affleck, while Reeve will probably go with a lesser known, younger actor ,who can act the part.

I tend to think whoever gets pick is gonna face a backlash because it'll probably be an "outside the box to fans" casting choice.

To be fair, I think Bats should definitely have stubble from now on. It looks good.

Have you actually seen Pattinson in anything other than Twilight? Be honest! :D
