If it's really ATJ, then besides that meme people will start to make memes about death in MCU, rebirth in DC especially 2 big leads. We have Levi and ATJ as proofs. :funny:

See now that I like.

Nicholas Hoult ... Superman
Aaron Taylor-Johnson ... Batman

Would be okay...but god damn would it hurt.
Its one thing to lose Affleck, but Cavill? That would hurt like a *****, the guy is born to play superman.

Thing is that even after the casting there is so much to do and until we have seen the first trailer or pictures, we have no idea how the new bruce wayne actor will be.

I would be highly disappointed if ATJ was cast. I find him beyond bland. If he is, I hope he proves my initial feelings to be wrong.

I have confidence ATJ could pull it off. Most importantly, I trust in Matt Reeves.

I mean people said Affleck would be terrible/be bland and people are obsessed with him now. Obviously not all who doubted are converts, but you see my point.

IMO, agree or disagree, people's opinions on how they perceive the actor comes down to how much they like that first image of them in the suit.

Affleck's acting was basically what it always is and they changed his voice as Batman in post production. Once they showed him in the Dark Knight Returns outfit, a lot of fans started changing their tune.

Same happened with Keaton, though he brought more depth and darkness to the role and was the first to use the Batman voice.

If ATJ is cast, I would imagine public perception will largely hinge on what the suit looks like.

Damn you nearly got me. :funny:

Am I the only who you can't find this thread? Like it is no where to be seen when I'm in the Batman sub forum.... very odd indeed.

How the hell did some of you guys convince yourselves that ATJ would make for a great Batman/Bruce Wayne?
At best, he'd look like a cheap Christian Bale imitation and at worst we are looking at the softest and most ridiculous looking iteration in a very boyish kind of way... He would look terrible in the cowl (wrong eyes, wrong chin, wrong everything!). Not to mention, he could never be a Justice League Batman among Momoa, Gadot, Levi and, say, Cavill.
What a ****ing downgrade compared to Batfleck (in BvS)...

Batfleck was not a good Batman though. A lot of that has to do with writing, but in BVS he looked borderline chubby at times too.

Forgive my bluntness but I don't give a **** about that.
Neither do I honestly. I don't really care about how Batman will look in a justice League film or if we will ever see him in one. All I want is to be able to have a great batman film again that also features a great Batman, which is something we haven't had since The Dark Knight Rises.

A part of me wants Logan Lerman just to see the response it would gather

Who is your number 1 choice?

laugh all you want, but a grey suit and a chin doesn't make the character of Batman.

This is all just my opinion of course.

Armie Hammer. And Robbie Amell is close by just for his comic accurate Bruce Wayne looks alone.
For me, you have to look the part in order to be considered in the first place. For my favorite fictional character I want the archetypical look established in the canon to be carried on in the silver screen, at least somewhat. And people like ATJ and Lerman do not carry that at all (hence my disdain for such picks). And casting directors know that "looks" are what sets your foot in the door and ultimately makes up for half the performance.
And acting can be learned with great performances coming out of nowhere (especially at the hands of a great director like Matt Reeves).

I suspect WB might make JL a separate franchise anyway, which would necessitate a new Batman. Even if they didn’t go that route, I don’t think Batman needs to look like the toughest/strongest guy in the room. Yeah, yeah, completely different situation, but Mark Ruffalo doesn’t look like much next to Chris Evans, but he plays the second strongest Avenger.

EDIT: Look, ATJ isn’t my first choice either, but if you think Robbie Amell is a better choice, I’m giving you the side-eye.

I respect your opinion and I understand it, but why not set yourself up for the most success (and acceptance) by checking those boxes right of the gate? Especially since in those specific cases that you mention we can all agree that it's extremely hard to look convincing in the cowl (most people look ridiculous) and that the grey is the classic color of the Bat? See my mentality?

You could have said the exact same thing about Gal Gadot back then and look where you'd be now. She delivered an incredible performance under Jenkins' direction and she's bound to do so again and again over the WW trilogy.
Acting talent is overrated. There are other just as important criteria that can lead to a great performance. Like for instance how your character as a person is compatible with the role in question. The MCU (and the DCEU) have understood that and managed to cast the people that winded up being the greatest and most widely accepted fan favorites.
