Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

^He came off as really weak compared to Gerard Butler, and I think he'd be a weak choice for Bruce Wayne too. He doesn't have the screen presence of other superhero leads.

Anson Mount would be a good choice. Not like he's going to be tied up with Inhumans. :funny:

Did Inhumans get cancelled yet? :p

I've been saying Gyllenhaal for years, and he was my top choice to compliment Cavill's Superman before Affleck was cast. Glad to see traction there. He has the look, the intensity, the build, everything. If cast, he'll be a worthy successor to Bale.

If not Gyllenhaal, I really like Anson Mount for the role. I'm not too sure about how his acting is, but damn if he doesn't look the part.

I love Anson Mount for the role. I think he did great in Hell on Wheels. I've mentioned him before.

He was fantastic in Hell on Wheels. :)

Anyone else really excited that Affleck is out? He could have been great but it just turned out really bad.
I was a supporter of Affleck even after BvS, but seeing his JL performance... I don't need more of that crap.

THIS

And his uncertainty with anything involving Batman is annoying as hell.
He has no passion for the role.

He needs to go.

Ii really think we need to see some new villains instead of a rehash. We’ve already gotten solid cinematic introductions to Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler, Two Face, Bane, Scarecrow, Ra’s and Talia

Freeze and Ivy deserve redemption. I’d love to see Ivy in GCS and Freeze as a main antagonist in one of Reeves’ films

Clayface
Red Hood
Court of Owls
Hugo Strange
Hush
Man-Bat
Mad Hatter
Ventriloquist

Ii think you can fit almost all these characters in a new trilogy

I’m thinking Court of Owls for the first film

Terminator 2 is just a taste of what Clayface could bring to a Batman movie.

Also the effects in Alien Covenant are a good example of quality SFX that uses practical and CGI.

Clay face ain't always in monster mode. He's mostly in human disguise for his schemes. Only when he loses his **** does he turn into his real form.

I'd be okay with Clayface in a JL movie or some other kind of team-up but I'd rather not see him in a Batman film.

I think Reeves to figure out what the story and arc is (for Bruce) first and then see which villains fit that story best. Instead of "hmm what villains should we use, let's do this one" and then coming up with something around that rogue. This is why I most comic book movies fail. It's one big jerk fest of "I love these 8 villains the most, let's make sure we squeeze them into the series. Who's first!?"

Agree. Still, I'd prefer him to use the villains we haven't see before in live action.

Yeah for sure.

Story and lead character has to come first before anything else. That's the anchor. If you just choose the villain before anything else, it says a lot, that the story and lead character is not really the priority for you. Your priority is on some visual or cool villain that you want to see...and that's when your movie fails to strike a chord. That's why movies like Iron Man 2, the 90's Batman sequels, BvS, Thor: Dark World etc ended up feeling like some random episode with no weight to it. Or at the very least, a cash grab.

So any one of us trying to predict the villain, is a useless exercise because we don't know what story and arc Reeves has planned. And I do trust that Reeves is putting story and character first before anything else.

LOL at solid adaptation of The Riddler.

Carrey was a pretty solid modern Gorshin-Riddler, but beyond that...

That's how I Ifeel as well. That character has so much more potential than Joker-lite and yet that's all certain people want from him.

He wasn't that far off from TAS Riddler either...

Carrey was just fine and did a good job of portraying the Riddler of that period

You guys say you don't want Joker-lite but some of the same people that say that, turn around and say they want Jigsaw-lite.

I'm all for a less outlandish Riddler, don't get me wrong, but Carrey did a fine job. I don't know how much more you could expect from a 90s adaptation of The Riddler

There's no reason for a character with The Riddler's gimmick and attributes to be played in such a manic way, especially when The Joker is a much bigger character and it's just going to draw negative comparisons. That goes for any version of him too.
