I guess "very early in development" is too vague to get any real sense of where they are. When I hear "very early in development," I take that as meaning the first draft of the script is still being written. Which, to be fair, makes sense. He didn't finish War until July, and I assume he took a bit of a break after that. Even if he started working on the script as early as August, it's only been about three months.

Still, must be one hell of a pitch if he's already meeting with actors and that's all he has to go on. I don't know if Gyllenhaal is the kind of person who'd sign onto a film like this without reading a script first.

Yeah, it's all one big grey area right now. Reeves has clearly worked fast before, namely for Dawn, but there's no reason to assume so far that he's going fast for Batman either.

As for meeting with Gyllenhaal... I have no clue. The one thing I do absolutely believe is the reports from just about everyone is that Reeves is probably still early on in talks with Gyllenhaal about the role.

I saw someone talking on Reddit about how the two best Batmen (Bale and Keaton) could've easily played Joker as well. They have that sort of raw intensity that works for either character. Gyllenhaal has that as well.

If you think about Batman and Joker basically being two opposites of the same coin, then that does make sense. It would be very interesting for the same actor to play both characters, using editing and CG doubles for certain scenes they're together.

So I have a question.

Steve Weintraub said that they are still very early in the development of this film. He emphasized the "very early" part. Isn't it a bit odd for a director to make meetings from multiple actors if they don't even have a script in place?
Not at all.

Still repping Jake Johnson as my left-field Keaton-esque choice.

$
That is a terrible choice.

Blue-eyed Batman, baby.

Looking off of Screenrant I was looking at actors and there is a top 15 list of actors who could replace Affleck as Batman and they are as follows:

15- Karl Urban
14- Matt Bomer
13- Wes Bentley
12- Richard Armitage
11- Jason Clarke
10- Anson Mount
9- Michael C Hall
8- Kyle Chandler
7- Colin Farrell
6- Eric Bana
5- Keanu Reeves
4- Michael Fassbender
3- Jon Hamm
2- Luke Evans
1- Jake Gyllenhaal

Even off of this site Gyllenhaal seems to be the front runner to replace Affleck as Bruce/Batman and honestly everyone keeps saying Gyllenhaal so DC if they were smart they would go after him

Highlighted the ones I wouldn't mind seeing.

Kyle Chandler would've been absolutely perfect 10 years ago. But he's over 50-years-old now. That window is closed.

Out of the list I outlined my choices that I would love to see are:

Gyllenhaal of course but also Luke Evans, Jon Hamm, Anson Mount, Matt Bomer and Karl Urban

I love Gyllenhaal out of all of these choices

But outside the box picks for Bruce Wayne/Batman obviously would be Armie Hammer, Ryan Gosling and Taylor Kitsch

Eion Bailey, aka the love-child of Zack Snyder and Paul Rudd.

Another outside the box pick he is an action film star/stuntman/martial artist...Scott Adkins as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Even though he is English he can pull off a pretty convincing American accent and not to mention he has experience in CBMs as well specifically Dr Strange in the MCU and he was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as well even though he did the stunts for Deadpool's character

I would like Colin Farrell as Batman, but only if Yorgos Lanthimos directs.

Colin Farrell I can actually see him as Batman believe it or not but he would need to bulk up for the role too

He can't act. He's the b movie Van Damme of this generation. Minus the humor.

Keaton was a fantastic actor that had an intensity. I like that guy, but only in comedic roles as the comic relief character. That's probably the worst suggestion I've seen in years, no offense.

lol

The only “intense” role Keaton had before Batman was Clean and Sober. I’d say Johnson’s turns in Win It All and Digging for Fire are comparable.

Is that the guy who did the worst Batman/Bruce Wayne audition during the Begins era? No thanks.
To be fair you're holding him to an audition he did twelve years ago.
