Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

If they go younger, I'd be up for Armie Hammer. The guy's getting rave reviews for Call Me By Your Name, and we know he has great chemistry with Cavill.

If they stay older, then I'd go with Anson Mount, Richard Armitage, or Jason Clarke.

The Flash isn't cancelled. They're developing a script and actively seeking a director.
Thanks.
I was about to post something like that.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an announcement about the new director for The Flash at SDCC this weekend.

If they do recast him, then i'm betting they'll go with an actor in his 30s who Reeves can get a trilogy out of. I think this whole thing comes down to what Reeves wants in the long run since it's his ship now regarding Batman.

Armie feels like the best choice. Miller wanted him, but he was too young. I don't doubt Miller. He's got the height, and with some hair dye, he'd have the look. He's young and ready to prove himself as a big star. He'd be easy to sign for multiple films too. Basically Chris Evans pre Cap.

If Affleck is walking away Jake Gylenhaal is my number one choice for a trilogy from Reeves.

So it's true, Batfleck may be done. Happy days. Lets get an actor who can bring some gravitas to the role, and who actually seems enthusiastic about playing it.

Thank you. I want someone who can bring the unhinged intensity that Bale and Keaton did. Affleck always just seemed like a guy showing up for work to me.

I also think they need to go younger or at least find an actor who looks younger (for example, Black Panther's Chadwick Boseman is 40 but looks like he's in his 20s). Whatever that means for Justice League, I don't know or really even care. We've got a chance to put Batman on the right track again.

However, I don't want Hammer. I have nothing against the guy but I just don't think he has what this role requires. Yeah, George Miller blah, blah, blah. Miller was also casting on the cheap and had Jay f***ing Baruchel playing Maxwell Lord. Hammer would be as dull as Affleck.

Yeah same but realistically we won't get more than a movie or two out of the guy. Armie would likely commit to way more

Agreed. He always felt like a 'lighter' actor trying to play dark, and it never entirely rang true with his performance.

I don't see why he wouodnt sign on for a trilogy but tbh it will probably be someone unexpected I reckon if Affleck is leaving.

Hammer is about as interesting as a wet sock.

There are several different ways they could go in terms of casting and depending on what Reeve wants to do.

We've had a variety of actors ranging from Keaton, to Bale, to Kilmer etc play the part so it isn't as rigid as say Superman is in terms of looks .

However, my hope is that Reeve finds a solid actor first and foremost ,more then just casting someone who looks like the comic. Someone of the caliber of Keaton or Bale would be great .

At this point, I really don't have any suggestion. I have more casting choices for the next James Bond than for Bruce Wayne.

Regardless of age, an unknown actor or an under-the-radar actor might be the best route to go.

As far as I'm concerned, they need someone who will commit to a six-film contract. Three Batman films, three Justice League films. Then they can negotiate additional cameo appearances in other films as they see fit. I doubt we'd get a big-name actor to agree to such terms.

It'd make sense. Affleck carried a lot of baggage, as did Keaton. Bake was arguably not all that well known pre-Begins, and he's been the most complete version IMO. Let an actor entirely inhabit the part with no preconceived notions.

I have zero interest in a Batman that isn't Bruce Wayne so I hope they dont kill Bruce or have Bruce pass the cowl on to someone else.

Just cast a younger guy and put a little gray in his hair, claim he's the same veteran Bats we've had so far, but since the actor is younger he can go on longer than Ben could've.

That's what I'm thinking too.
That would work well enough and it would make it easier to do prequels with the same actor.

I'd go with Armitage.

How about Ben Walker? I suggested him for Hal Jordan a little while ago but I could see him as Batman too. Plus he's played Patrick Bateman and that can't hurt.

Gyllenhaal should replace Leto as The Joker if he's interested.

ANYONE should replace Leto as the Joker.

Might as well recast Leto as well.

If Leto still wants to play Joker why would Warner Bros. want to recast him? Not why would you recast Joker, what possible reason would Warner Bros. have?

Keaton to Kilmer worked. This can too.

Did it though? :p

Batman Forever made more money than Batman Returns. So people didn't care that Kilmer was the new Batman, they just wanted Batman.
If Batman & Robin wasn't garbage probably no one would have cared Clooney was Batman. Clooney was very popular at the time.

they will probaly cast actor in 30's and expect everyone to just act like this has always been batman.

It would make sense if Reeve plans on doing a trilogy

Batman should always be Bruce Wayne.

Of the slightly more realistic options... Michael Fassbender (also very unlikely), Karl Urban or Jim Caviezal would be my top choices.

When Bale's time was up as Batman Fassbender and Urban were my two fantasy choices to take over (although at that time they were signed as Magneto and Dredd). I can't see Fassbender doing it now having committed for so long as Magneto but I hold out hope for Urban, seeing as Dredd (sadly) didn't take off for him.

Well I enjoyed Grayson's short stint as Batman, but yeah, way too soon. I would want a complete solo trilogy with Bruce Wayne as Batman before they even entertain the idea of a successor.

^ This!

Likewise, nothing against him but Hammer doesn't do it for me.
