Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

If they're going younger,i.e. reboot, i'd look at an outside the box choice in Adam Driver.

Has was apparently up for Nightwing or Lex in the early BvS development depending on who you believe. I doubt Lucasfilm/Disney would let him go given Star Wars but , I could see him as a fusion of Keaton , Bale, and Affleck. He'd have Keaton's quirkiness, Bale's drive, and Affleck imposing pressence.

Don't want Armie Hammer as Batman. Having him together with Cavill would be too reminiscent of the Man From UNCLE, and I'd rather not be reminded of that terrible film.

ANYONE should replace Leto as the Joker.

I'd prefer a completely different type of Joker. Something more traditional, not this guy with the metal teeth and tattoos who half the time looks like some clown version of Billy Crystal.

I'd even prefer something more along the lines of Caesar Romero. Visually I think he looks closest to the comic Joker, save for his mustache (which was hidden anyway).

I wouldn't mind keeping Affleck as long as they get rid of the robotic voice and garbage costume.

But yeah, Affleck seems miserable about playing the character and not into it. I think the BVS reception depressed him greatly. So a new re-cast would be probably be best.

Not a fan of the short ears, the fat symbol and how awkward,stiff and clunky the suit looks while in motion.

If they get him, they might as well ditch Henry Cavill and get Tom Welling for Superman. Cillian Murphy looks like a more effeminate version of Welling. They can then have Bruce and Clark look like each other like in the comics.

The short ears are probably because Affleck is already very tall and giving him the longer ears will make him tower over Superman. That's why getting someone like Armie Hammer would not be great either, as he's 6'5" and already towered over Cavill in the Man From UNCLE.

Agreed. The cloth BvS costume design looked great on paper (Miller's TDKReturns) and on a display manikin but in live action it was too bulky and made Affleck look like he had a roid gut. Plus the cut of the cowl made him look too full in the face. Affleck obviously got himself in shape for BvS but that mask did him no favours at all; he doesn't have that lean-lined face that Keaton or Bale had and looked fatter in the face when he was wearing it than when he was Bruce Wayne.

On the other hand he looked the business in the armour.

I'm not convinced about Jon Hamm, and I really don't care if he looks like comic book Batman.

Richard Armitage sounds better. Ideally, though, I'd go late thirties, so it's still believably the same guy, but there's more time before being able to handle the physicality becomes a concern.

Yeah, Oscar Isaac as Batman would be some pretty damn inspired casting. Certainly a pick that would elicit a more positive reaction from me than someone like Armie Hammer.

I said this back in February/March, but I think Toby Kebbell is also someone to keep an eye on. Especially given how he's worked with Reeves before in the Apes films.

According to THR, WB is mulling replacing Affleck. That doesn't mean it will happen, but that means fans are already talking about recasting.

I hope Matt Reeves gets Affleck excited and fights to keep him on for The Batman. I really want Reeves to imbue the kind of nuance and heart he imbued on the Apes franchise. And his track record is much better than Snyder's was.

I think a big thing that would provide alot of motivation for Affleck to stick with this IS.... the right movie.
Seems like that movie is at the beginning of a trilogy though.
Which probably looks terrifying to him.

How about Ben Walker? I suggested him for Hal Jordan a little while ago but I could see him as Batman too. Plus he's played Patrick Bateman and that can't hurt.

I wouldn't complain, but after I saw someone fan-cast him as Superman in a "Recast the DCEU" thread, I can't unsee him as Superman. He has a George Reeves quality about him.
