Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

JOSH BROLIN IN EVERY CINEMATIC UNIVERSE.

But seriously, he's perfect for Bruce Wayne and Batman.

Replace Daine Lane if you have to.

Hell no. Brolin is a midget. Plus i doubt he'll have time now that he's playing Cable

Sure, why not? I love it when no-name actors become superheroes, like Gal Gadot & Henry Cavill. I hate having Ben Affleck as Batman. Not because he's a bad actor but because his celebrity overshadows the character. Hard to take him seriously when you see his face on screen and think of JLo, or Good Will Hunting or Argo or this TRL controversy etc. Better to have the hero overshadow the celebrity than the reverse.

I totally agree. Everyone knew who he was by the time he was cast. At least with Downey it seemed like the younger generation didn't really know him throughout the 2000's , so by the time he became Tony Stark a good chunk of the audience weren't sitting there distracted. I feel like Affleck's casting was distracting.

I'm convinced that Ben won't return to the role.

That's most likely the case. They're just waiting to announce it so JL won't be affected. I only went to BvS once, so without a re-watch I can't really give a solid appraisal of him. I wasn't overly negative on him. However, with all the other factors thrown aside, his age just doesn't work for anything long term with the character. Part of me wants him to stay just so we don't have to go through the sadly inevitable BS that will surround casting every superhero today, whether they should change the race of a white character (they shouldn't). Same with Cavill, although Cavill is undoubtedly great in his role and hopefully will stay.

If they get Armie now would be the time. Oscar nomination or not, that's not a film that the entire world will see. He won't be a household name. For a lot of people he will be a fresh face under the cowl, and more importantly they can look at him as young Bruce Wayne and nothing else.

I'm back on the Karl Urban train.

He’s been mentioned here before. Unless there’s a Poe Dameron spin-off, I don’t think he’ll be too tied up with anything.

C’mon, this image screams Bruce Wayne and we’ve seen him turn in more intense performances to fit Batman.

It doesn't scream Bruce Wayne. More like the heir to the Corleone family in a Godfather Part 4.

I'm all for diversity, but Oscar is obviously a Latin man, and I've always believed that Bruce Wayne would realistically be a white man who comes from old money going waay back. That's what makes him work. On the surface they see this guy who has everything at his fingertips, he's not a minority, he's white and filthy rich and a target for criticism yet he chooses to do what the others don't. It's not about making him a "white hero", it's about a guy who looks like an American eye rolling tradition who goes AGAINST tradition with his actions. I do think Oscar is amazing, and he should play another great character with layers in a world like that, but just not Bruce Wayne. Of course, if it was announced, I would be like ehh whatever I can get over it cuz I know Oscar would do a good job with it (he may be a little small for the role though)...but if I had a choice I would cast somebody more suitable.

Oscar Issac played King John Lackland of England without any issue. He could easily play a blue blooded Bruce Wayne, and he'd be fun. K think he'd be a bit less broody and a bit more melancholy, if that makes sense.

Oscar Isaac should play Batman like he played Hamlet - in his underwear.

I'd adore Oscar Isaac as Batman. He'd bring a special presence to the role, I think.

Armitage can work if the film will be something distinctly different in tone from what we had before - Burton, Schumacher, Nolan and Snyder. He's really gruff and intense, quite brutal in appearance. Something we didn't have before.

If they made Batman Latin, I'd prefer Edgar Rameriez over Isaac.

Maaan, Esai Morales would've been a dope Batman if he wasn't so old.

I wonder how Adrian Grenier would do?
