Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

I just watched a couple clips of Armitage as the Red Dragon, and count me in as convinced that he can do the job.

I’d like to see Armitage as Bats in a never happening Serious House on Serious Earth adaptation where Bats is more an entity than a character.

Hannibal showed how well he uses physicality for expression.

His ability to communicate through physicality is precisely why he should play Batman in general.

As much as I would love to see Affleck stick around as Batman, with everything that has been going on it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up leaving

In that case, bring on Richard Armitage! He was actually my top pick before Affleck was announced

Oh man...I didn't even realize that the woman accusing Affleck of groping her is Jeffrey Dean Morgan's wife. :o

I know, right? I cringed inwardly when I realised that.

So when Jeffrey Dean Morgan's is playing Batman in Flashpoint and Flash tells him about the alternate universe, is he gonna straight up be like, "**** that Batman! He groped my wife! Disappear for all I care, sucka!!!"

He'd be absolutely perfect for that . Don't worry, you're not alone. I'd love a live action adaptation of ASHOSE too, but I know it's not likely. :csad:

Basically.

WHOA. That is .... Painfully awkward. Damn.

Or a scene where Thomas is on-camera meeting Batfleck like " I missed you, son " and then he just knocks Affleck tf out as soon as "CUT " is yelled .

^ Thomas Wayne gonna show Batsy some discipline.

But seriously..

There's more pros to recasting than cons.

Pro:

*Can double as a mild reboot.
*Can allow Batman to "act differently" without feeling that he's changing character.
*Can allow Batman to speak with his voice (technically they could do that with Affleck, but it would "break character.")

* I personally think Affleck's a good actor..but he has a reputation of not getting into character. Having an actor who is lesser known or has a better reputation would help legitimize the franchise. "Of course Batman wasn't well received..it was Gigli!" :(

*Possibility of an actor with less personal baggage.

Con(s):

It would hard to find an actor as physically imposing as Affleck.

Ben Affleck is a real life Bruce Wayne, for better or worse.
The next actor would probably have to play BW differently..which might not be a bad thing.

I feel like the answer is right in front of us. Armie Hammer.

Ok, so the memes are starting to call Affleck "Buttman" now that he has his own groping scandal. Whoever definitely wanted a new Batman, I'm sure you'll get it now. Affleck has just become insanely toxic, and I would be surprised if he lasts another week without being replaced or forced to step down.

Kevin Smith the prophet.

If Affleck gets booted out/quits then WB is definitely gonna go younger. That's if they decide to have this film and its possible sequels be a stand alone thing that is. I just get the vibe that they're not feeling the old bats at all whatsoever. Armitage is a great shout for the role but I don't think it'll happen because he's of that "old" age as well. Someone in their 30s would seem like their ideal choice. If it's a 1 to 1 replacement for Affleck with the character still being connected to their current universe then cool, I'd be down for Armitage getting the gig.

If they stick with an older Batman, I wouldn't mind giving Eion Bailey another look. I know people like to poke fun at his admittedly awful Batman Begins audition, but auditions are usually tough for actors. I like the guy, though. I think Reeves could work very well with him. He's got the look, and he's 41 years old so you could get a Batman trilogy out of him before he hits 50.

- Dark hair
- Blue eyes
- 6'0" tall
- Athletic frame
- Not a big name actor

I think he'd look great standing next to Cavill.

Why is this thread still so active?

Ben Affleck IS the Batman!

He looks too much like Paul Rudd.

Do a Batman Beyond and cast Michael Keaton for the old Bruce Wayne, and use CGI to do flashbacks of Keaton as Batman taking on villians, kinda like a glimpse of his Batman 3 we never got.

^ It's weird..because while part of me wants to see what Batfleck would be like in a solo film..a part of me is looking forward to a more human and haunted (but ultimately moral) Batman.

I think Armitage probably doesn't have much of a chance because he's in his late 40s, but I like entertaining that idea. I think Batman would allow him to explore both a dark and heroic aspect.

I admit to not seeing much with Armitage but I don't get the obsession with this guy around here. I haven't seen anything that made me think he was a great actor or somebody who can lead a big film like this. Maybe some of you peeps can point me into the direction of some good films or scenes where he delivers a solid performance?

He's one of the few bright spots of the Hobbit trilogy, if you feel like wasting nine hours of your life. He was also quite good as the Red Dragon in the third season of Hannibal.
