Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

I would totally give Ryan Gosling a chance after Blade Runner: 2049. Hammer would be a natural fit in the looks department. Jon Hamm is the dream choice for me, but I doubt it will happen.

C'mon guys.

He's Bruce.

This is basically BTAS Batman come to life.
Ehhhhh
He’s too well known.
Just in movies but especially in CBMs :funny:

Too in demand to sign up for a trilogy.

Also
OLDER than Affleck is definitely not the way to go :funny:
I think they need to think far ahead with whoever they cast next. I think that was something they didn’t do when they cast Affleck honestly.

They need someone that isn’t well known or in demand that can basically just sign up to be Batman for the next few years.

Hmm. I guess I understand it but I did not get anything remotely Batman like about Gosling in BR2049.

I've never been a fan of Gosling my choice would be Hammer or Hamm

I thought he was great in BR2049, what was transferable to Batman was the more quiet, stoic and intense moments he gets to play. Doesn't fit like a glove, but I would give him a chance and would be excited at the prospect of him being awesome.

Watch the new Bladerunner. Gosling plays a detective, who is believable as somebody who can kick a HUGE man's ass, darker hair, plays the quiet/internal character who can be quite cold but also show a lot of warmth and care for others. A detective who is haunted by past memories. Ring a bell? He's also in pretty good shape in the role. If you add the voice modulator to mask and deepen his voice, we're all set (a less robotic voice please). Or if he can pull off a Keaton delivery under the cowl then even better. He's been my choice since the beginning and I know it won't happen, but after Bladerunner 2049 it made the most sense to me. It would be a crime if he never got to play Batman while in his prime.

I just keep imagining that shot with the cowl on! It could be great. I would be surprised if they actually signed him though, as he's been vocal about his distaste for the whole "multi film deal" thing. Who knows, maybe he's changed his mind over the years.

Josh Brolin is well known?

Only movie nerds know his name and his CBM roles are usually buried in make up.

On the Jake Gyllenhaal point though, he's probably the best actor of those mentioned, but I don't really see him as a fit for Batman. He doesn't really have the physical presence/stature that I would like. Granted he got shredded in that one boxing movie, but his physique just doesn't scream "BATMAN" to me. He would be a dream pick for the Joker though if we are just revamping all of the Batman related stuff with Matt Reeves.

That's what people said about Affleck.

My stance on Affleck from day one has been his celebrity completely overshadows the character.

Brolin is virtually a character actor who can blend into any role like MIB3 or the movie where he played President Bush.

My dream is a solo franchise with Gosling as Bats (Gos in his Bladerunner mode), Jake as the Joker or even the Riddler (hell, the guy could play Black Mask too), Malcolm McDowell as Alfred and Bryan Cranston as Gordon. This would also reunite Cranston with Gosling, which I thought was a good pairing in Drive. I'd also be cool with Batman/Joker being recast while they keep Margot as Harley, Simmons as Gordon and Irons as Alfred.

Sounds good to me!

I like the Gosling and Gyllenhaal choices. I'm not a fan of Affleck in the role (or as an actor) and don't really understand why people are so fond of him. He just physically has the appearance of Bruce Wayne/Batman (which is an ode to the designers -- not Affleck). It was a big step down from Bale and Keaton's acting work in their respective films, in my opinion. Granted, their characters actually had far more interesting arcs than Affleck's films.

What?

How did you determine this?

You act like the guy is Will Smith or Tom Hanks, lol.
Cuz only the biggest mega stars like Cruise or Smith are known by the general public right!?

Come on, you have to give ppl more credit than that.

I’m so anxious to see how this goes :funny:

Hopefully it’s not too long before we hear something.

He was definitely my choice before Batfleck. If Batfleck really is about to no longer be a thing, then they should definitely get him or Richard Armitage.

I would like to see Batman beyond, someone new playing Terry Mcginnis, and an older actor like Bruce Wayne.

Do not get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the bat, but the possibilities that a modern batman can offer are unlimited.
