Guys, guys.
Am I nuts in having a hunch this mystery/unmentioned actor Reeves has in mind might even be Caviezel? Based on absolutely nothing, just somehow seems like the type he'd probably want for it. Clearly someone with a bit of history with fan-casting for the role, but if they're indeed replacing Affleck (and wanting to keep an older, mid-late-40s take):
"He is ze clear choice."
Heh. Besides the obvious Person Of Interest history, where John Reese pretty much
is Batman, just think it might be the type of direction to go, if Reeves has much of a say in things tone-wise.
Really love the idea of Armitage too, especially since I didn't realize he was 6'2". Either of those guys would nail something with Reeves' tone, especially with that "smaller detective feel" he commented on. I do think less of a "name" than Affleck might be a good way to go, cut down on some of that movie-star baggage, get someone more around the status/awareness Bale was before Begins (or Cavill before MoS for that matter). Armitage and Caviezel fit right in that sweet spot, established actors with careers, but still sort of "Who?" among Joe & Jane average moviegoer. Plus keeping the actor somewhere around the same age as Ben's going to help smooth out the jarring nature of a re-cast, it'd feel a little weird somehow having Hammer or Gosling or Gyllenhaal or whoever after what's come so far.
Also, is there any more basis to go on that Affleck might be out? Or are we just going by JLA seeming to be a bit of a critical turd, added to his seeming lack of enthusiasm? I actually sorta like Ben for this particular take so far, but yeah, not sure I'd want him going forward for Matt's movie if indeed they're shaking up the tone and going somewhat smaller.
EDIT: Also, while I'd say keep Irons around, damn if Dalton isn't an awesome Alfred choice man.
