Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

So yeah, Campea just confirmed on his YouTube channel that Jake Gyllenhaal's the name he's been hearing too. It's not a done deal yet though.

I have total faith that he'd be able to knock it out of the ballpark as Batman. I'm with shauner111 on that. He's insanely gifted as an actor and I'd expect great things to come if he does team up with Reeves on the film.

Gyllenhaal would be a huge get. He's been on fire in recent years, and while he doesn't have the conventional Bruce Wayne visage that Affleck has, he is a far more talented versatile actor. Very expressive and communicative through body language and eyes alone.

Have him hit the gym for a few months and he'd look the part very well.

Great as Gyllenhaal is, for some reason I can't picture him as Bruce. And I've gotten the impression that he's not too keen on doing big blockbusters these days.

Keaton didn't have the classic Batman feature, and to this day, he is to me one of the best. I'm on wait and see on this one ( IF Jake accept the role )

Gyllenhaal's been getting more into prestige work as of late, true, but most actors would kill for the chance to put a big franchise under their belt all the same (especially in this day and age). It wouldn't surprise me at all if this pans out.

He could benefit from a successful big budget feature for sure.

This also tells me we might be getting an experimental version of Bruce/Bats again, like Keaton, rather than pandering to comic book orthodoxy. Gyllenhaal is too damn good to just do the same basic Bruce Wayne again.

Yeah, I'm kinda shaking with excitement at the idea. Gyllenhaal has done amazing work as an actor. His films with Denis Villeneuve have me completely sold on his ability to do a killer job with Batman if he takes the job, especially Enemy.

And that's one of the thing that i like to this day with Keaton. His Batman/ Bruce Wayne (especially) was unique AND believable.

Yup and apparently he's jacked at the moment. And I did see an interview about a year ago where he said he's interested in playing a superhero, but it has to be right. Well this would be the right time. A good director who in my opinion just needs better scripts wants Jake when he's on FIRE, in his prime, and when they're willing to let the director do his thing like Nolan did, without cramming Justice League members into the movies? Best timing in the world.

This would be the best Batman related news since the director of Memento & Insomnia was set to reboot Batman with the actor from American Psycho & The Machinist.

No sir
I don’t like it.

Willing to give pretty much anyone a chance and I always like to just wait and see but...:funny:

So would you settle for a lesser actor just because he has the look? That would be ridiculous considering the casting of Heath Ledger and Michael Keaton. Jake has more range and commitment in his pinky than Affleck has in his entire body. Same can be said for most of the names suggested in this thread.

He may not have the conventional comic-book visage that Ben Affleck has, but he still checks off quite a few boxes. He's tall, blue-eyed, strong-jawed, dark-haired, and easily believable as as a billionaire playboy. What more do you really need for Bruce Wayne? More to the point, he is very expressive and communicative through body language and eyes alone. Considering how important the actor's eyes are when playing Batman, that's an invaluable skill set to have.

In terms of physicality, one need only watch him go beast-mode in Southpaw to know that he can be quite physically imposing. If you want to get a taste of him in a detective role, look no further than Prisoners. If you're looking for straight-up intensity, Nightcrawler is your ticket. And if you have doubts that he can play an emotionally tortured/damaged soul, Stronger will put you at ease.

The guy is legit, and the Batman franchise would be lucky to have him.

Jake Gyllenhaal? I dig. He's a fantastic actor who if you seen Southpaw isn't afraid to bulk up if need be.

He's pretty ripped even back when he did Prince of Persia. The film sucked but he was decent in it.

I would prefer Villeneuve and Gyllenhaal for this but I'll take Reeves.

I’m just having a hard time seeing it.

If it turns out to be true, I’m sure the idea will grow on me :funny:

The best way to convince sceptic people would be seeing him in the dual role. It happened before.
