Jim Caviezel is possible but not for how many films they want to do. Isn't he older than Affleck, like 50 or something? Also I've never been a fan. He's always been extremely one note and boring to me as an actor.
Haha, I don't really get that at all, but to each their own I guess.
And the age thing, I dunno, only 4 years older than Affleck and 3 older than Armitage. If they want to skew to a younger interpretation than Affleck's going forward, fine, but I dunno that 49's gonna make that much difference than 45, for "Affleck's version" of Bats in the DC verse.
Dude nails the "cold, driven, focused, lonely damaged guy" vibe though.
The Jake news is pretty interesting, assuming it's true. Love the guy as an actor, he certainly has the chops for it, and the look. Not sure I'm loving the idea of a Gyllenhaal Batman though, don't know why. Might be the "big name" thing again, like Affleck, or the jarring nature of jumping from Affleck's grizzled veteran dude who's been through so much horrible crap in his career so far to...36 year old (and looking younger than that) Gyllenhaal.
If it was a totally new, fresh take, unassociated with the Snyder stuff so far, I'd say hell yeah. Just seems a little odd at this point in the game. Though yeah, can totally buy he's someone Reeves would have in mind for it, seems the type.
So wow, he would have only been 24 when testing for Batman Begins then? Guess that would have fit just fine for that version though, makes sense.
And if Gyllenhaal's indeed in consideration, what would this say about the DC verse going forward? Maybe that they're potentially...well, not "rebooting" things, but might be doing a sort of soft-reset on things and changing up dynamics and tone going forward? Might be for the best to just let Matt off the leash and do things entirely his way, not worry too much about trying to fit things in with what's come before with Affleck. Jake would work way better in that type of context, like the broader events of the DC verse so far have happened, but they're turning a blind eye to the details and sort of veering in another direction going forward.
Basically: Jake for Bats, totally. Jake for AFFLECK'S Bats? Ehh, that's going to be a little irritating. Make it a whole new beast, but just acknowledging the stuff so far in broad general terms.
EDIT: Height-wise, 6'0" seems fine too. Wasn't that what Bale was? *Shrugs* Not sure it's that valid a complaint, Affleck's been the only guy of comics-Bruce height we've had so far, it doesn't seem to matter.
