I still want something like the Tron Legacy suits.

I think it’s a good mix of fabric and sculpted parts.
It’s flexible and looks protective.

Oh man, those suits were so cool. That's the way they should go if they ever do Green Lantern.

A move back towards some kind of realism would be nice, yes. We don't need to go so far as the TDK suit again - because that came with its own problems, but a Batman who actually looks like someone who can move swiftly, while retaining great strength, athletic prowess and power would be lovely. Less WWE wrestler and more UFC Fighter.

Completely agree.

A suit that is streamlined and flexible enough to allow Batman to move like an actual martial artist would be pretty ****ing rad.

Something like the new black panther suit?

Would blow my mind if Jake G ended up doing Kirk Langstrom...especially Langstrom Batman.

I hope they really have some really meaty stuff for Gyllenhaal to play with. That was the problem with Bale. It wasn't until Rises that he got something to truly sink into that utilized his vast talent. The stuff he got for BB and TDK was rather vanilla. Even Affleck could've played the character as offered in BB and TDK.

Bale, that crazy man, deserved something truly unique and different to match his acting chops. But what he got [until Rises] was Bruce Wayne at his most traditional. And Bale was fine in that box. But he could've been so much more.

Which is why I hope Gyllenhaal gets to be more interesting than the same old Bruce Wayne. I hope serious **** happens that completely throws Bruce off balance. Utilize Jake's talents of being able to play someone who is in deep discomfort.

Yep. That's part of why I'm excited about Matt Reeves directing the film. What he puts Caesar through in his Ape films is pretty damn bleak and challenging character-wise. I'm hoping he does the same here for Bruce, especially if he pulls from certain iconic Batman stories like Hush, Under the Red Hood or The Court of Owls.

Just realized that this wouldn't be the first time an actor is recast as a Gyllenhaal in the Batman franchise. :oldrazz:

I'm warming to the idea more and more, mainly because I know Gyllenhaal is a great actor and yet I have a hard time picturing exactly how he'd approach the role. That alone makes it pretty interesting and exciting.

I think we should hold off on treating this like a done deal though. All we know at this point is that a meeting happened. We have no idea if Jake wants this or is prepared to make that commitment. It's another case where his career doesn't need it.

Well, from the sound of somewhat recent interviews, Jake would probably be interested in giving it a go. What seems to be his criteria for signing on for a role is what the character has to offer and what-not. If Reeves can sell Jake on his vision for Batman, I think he'd be game.

But yeah, it's not a done deal yet. Affleck is almost certainly gone though. I think the reason we're all focusing in on Gyllenhaal is because he's the only name that's come up out of the supposedly multiple actors that Reeves has met with for the part... and apparently his name has been floating around the rumor mill for about two months now.

It's not a done deal yet, but I can definitely see it happening.

I just want confirmation as soon as possible.

Gyllenhaal has showcased his ability to switch up his entire aesthetic for roles, which I think fits here. Granted he's not pulling off DDL chameleon stuff but his character from Southpaw and his character from Nightcrawler are insanely different.

I think we all do. That said, I'm not expecting to hear anything until January or February at the earliest. I suppose December might be possible if JL tanks even further than we're expecting it to now, but I feel like WB will want to wait until JL's out of theaters before saying anything on the matter.

Apparently he's also interested in speaking with Jason Clarke and Jon Hamm. I believe that was stated from that dude from Collider.
