Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread

Apparently he's also interested in speaking with Jason Clarke and Jon Hamm. I believe that was stated from that dude from Collider.

Unless he's said it on Twitter or somewhere else and I just haven't seen it, Frosty did not name any other actors in his video on the matter from Collider at all. All he said in that initial video was that Reeves met with multiple actors and that Gyllenhaal was one of them.

I'd have to question all that because those are three very different types.

I just checked Frosty's twitter account and he never said anything there, as far as I can tell. I'll keep looking though.

Wasn't in the collider video that Steve Weintraub released a few days ago. I promise I didn't just pluck these names out of the stratosphere. I saw/read it somewhere. I'll keep searching as well.

I mean, the only place I've seen either of those names really pop up are here in the forums. I'm looking but I haven't seen anyone reputable say anything other than Gyllenhaal yet.

Honestly I doubt Reeves would really pick Clarke or Hamm for the part, since they're both already older than Affleck is. Especially when it's a fact that he's at least approached Gyllenhaal about the role, who is nine years younger than Affleck. I can see Reeves talking to Clarke about a part in The Batman since they've worked together before, but I doubt Reeves was talking to him about playing Batman specifically.

I could buy that.

I remember a few years ago, before the casting news of the Gotham pilot had started rolling in, and there was an article about Donal Logue possibly being Gordon, he brushed it off, and eventually it turned out he was really playing Bullock.

I thought it was odd due to their age as well. However, I didn't realize Clarke is as old as he is. I honestly thought it was reported by Steve Weintraub. If I end up locating it, i'll post it in here.

Yeah, I've been fan-casting Clarke lately as Dr. Thomas Elliot/Hush in my head lately. His wacky hair and cheekbones really remind me of how Jim Lee drew him in Batman: Hush.

Clarke's in good enough shape that you can buy him as being a little bit younger than he actually is, but I think he's too old to play someone like Bruce for the better part of a decade. Clarke being in the first film or two of Reeves' trilogy as someone like Hush seems more doable to me.

As for Jon Hamm... I have no idea.

Jason Clarke is probably the strangest idea for Batman since Bill Murray. Kind of curious what that would be like.

I can see Clarke as Hush and Hamm as Harvey Dent. With Jake G. As bats.

I can dig that. Hamm could probably fit a few different characters in Batman lore, if he were ever interested in doing a comic book movie. Wasn't he asked to play Batman before Affleck was and he turned it down?

Hamm was my top choice for Two-Face with Affleck’s Batman but if we get Gyllenhaal I think I’d like someone different.
Closer to his age.

I like Jason Clarke but I just can not see him as Batman. I think he'd make a great Riddler or Kurt Langstrom though.

Jon Hamm on the other hand, he's got the Bruce Wayne look down. But I rather they go younger for Batman. Hamm would be an excellent Harvey Dent/Two Face though

Jason Clarke is the sort of left-field choice that I would absolutely love. May not have the playboyish good looks, but I think he'd be absolutely fantastic. Intense eyes.

For some reason I envision Clarke fitting an aged up version of Darren Aronofsky''s Batman.

Hmm...

If Clarke is cast as Batman I think my interest in this film would disappear. He’s a good actor but I feel you need to fit a certain mold for Batman and whatever that is, it ain’t him. Also, aside from Everest and maybe Zero Dark Thirty, he’s never really stood out to me. I had almost completely forgotten he was in that Apes movie.

I want Gareth Evans to reboot Suicide Squad with Frank Grillo as Deadshot, Clarke as Boomerang and I guess keep Manganiello (did I spell that right?) as Deathstroke.

Call it Dead v Death: Dawn of Kill.

Grillo could work as Deadshot, or Deathstroke if they recast there.

Hamm for Dent, Clarke for Sionis. Gyllenhaal for Wayne.

Anyone else really excited that Affleck is out? He could have been great but it just turned out really bad.

I for one really enjoy the fan casts and discussing what actors could fit, speculating on what the new Batsuit/Batmobile/Bat-world will be like, etc. It's very exciting as a Batman fan. I'm glad this Knightmare is over and we can hope again. This is SHH at its best, ready to just chillax and have fun speculating again rather than all these fanboy wars.

I've been saying Gyllenhaal for years, and he was my top choice to compliment Cavill's Superman before Affleck was cast. Glad to see traction there. He has the look, the intensity, the build, everything. If cast, he'll be a worthy successor to Bale.

If not Gyllenhaal, I really like Anson Mount for the role. I'm not too sure about how his acting is, but damn if he doesn't look the part.

Sullivan Stapleton of 300: Rise of an Empire and of Blind Spot fame I can see him as Bruce/Batman
