Ofcourse they do, But IN the movies the people arent in their right mind.
There is a big diffrence comparing movie universe to real life.
If there is a "hero" dressing as a bat in real life with a muscle type armor like in '89, we would just laugh at it. Not fear it, Like they do in the batman movies.
If a person wearing body armor in real life like in begins, with a cowl and cape, Trying to look like a bat. We would laugh at it TOO.
IN the movie world, The explanation of the muscle look in '89 and up, Makes more sense than using a normal looking armor on a man who want to look like a bat, A animal.
In some ways the Begins suit is just as confusing and animalistic, But me personally prefer a muscle look compared to a armor look. He is afterall looking to scare the thugs... And to me. Using a armor looking like muscles is alot more indimidating for the people seeing him IN the movie universe.
I wonder if this make sense, Just my opinion though. And im not gonna try to change what anyone else think.
I've always loved the old suits, the new suits have really never done it for me.
The difference is Bales Batman fights so fast and was taught as a ninja, he has no time for high flying kicks and fancy fighting, he takes out his adversaries as quick as possible. In doing so, they only catch quick glimpses of him, while most of the time he hides in the dark before he attacks, I think thats equal to your comparision to the 89 suit which by the way is my favorite. It seems more animalistic, to pounce attack and defeat the enemies with them only seeing quick glances at you, its not like they have any real time to see the body armor, now I cant speak for TDK cause until its released we wont know how its dealt with.
