So about the Box Office...

Really hope it makes at least $100M in China, i mean even Terminator Genysis and San Andreas, two bad films last year, made $100M a pop in China.

Hoping for actuals to come in by 11 am EST. I know the analysts at the trades are in a rush to get that info out first

Ant-Man did $105M, and it's light years ahead of T:Genisys, so I don't think there is a link between success and quality story-wise, so, if in international, not english markets, story takes a back seat and visuals are more decisive, could this mean that BvS style is unappealing?

Yea, but did those two film loose 75% of their screens the 2nd week around?

Not trina be a smartass, i'm legitimately asking.

Good question. No they did not. Why? Because Cinese box office is similar to US box office in terms of reception. China decided to yank those screens and give them to other movies because the OW internal multiplier showed them that BvS would lose them money by keeping that number of screens. Chinese theaters are not in the business of losing money. They hedge their bets on known data to make a call that would benefit them. And betting on BvS would be a bad call for them.

Jeez, 75% of their screens.... A couple of months back i thought it was going to be great, how BvS has a day and date release with the States and the rest of the world... now i see it was a bad idea...

I don't think it was a bad idea. I think it was necessary. This movie was front loaded more than any similar blockbuster I've seen yet. WB saw the writing on the wall months ago and played it safe. Now they, on the surface, can spin the numbers in their favor.

I expect it to lose a lot of screens domestically this weekend. Not 75% but a substantial hit.

It always comes back to the quality of the film.

Ok what's the word on the numbers today, guys? How much is the weekend drop do we know?

San Andreas was good in a corny popcorn film kind of way. I would like this film to at least make it to $850 million (lower than my original billion estimate).

Off by 1%. Given that I was off OW by $1 mil I'm gonna take it WW gross will come in $1 mil over my prediction. And then I will play the lotto. And then I will buy Warner Bros.

Didn't fall below 70%
Didn't fall below 50 million for the weekend
700M after today

WB confident about the movie going forward. This is almost a complete reversal of how they regarded GL

Nah, I predicted $16 and a bottle of diet coke, wasn't me.

[BLACKOUT]But for real i predicted $49M[/BLACKOUT]
There are many Hypesters who play these numbers games. DS, you, and ISS. There are many more, but I can't list them all. :funny:

WB: "Given the fact that we lost 75% of the Chinese theaters, not having any real competition here at home, and having 3 of the most iconic superheroes ever onscreen together for the first time; we couldn't be more proud of this film and its box office performance."

I just made that up.
