850 looking like a better possibility now?

850 looking like a better possibility now?

It's running out of steam surprisingly fast with no competition. WB better make some drastic changes, no other DCEU will ever have 3, let alone 1 week without competition... WB shot itself in the foot with this mess...

If it reaches 900, without WB manipulating figures to suit them (not sure how, but you get what i m saying) then i would be happy.

I expected it to be a billion - with hype carrying it forward, but it kind of seems to be drifting by the way side.

In a way, a bit like Zoolander, not too shabby marketing, had an honest amount of people willing to see it, it came out, people said 'meh' then it was forgotten about.

Which, should never really happen with a Superman/Batman film.

How many parents probably thought a superman movie would be great to show their kids over easter - but then put off by A) violence B) Run time C) reviews

I honestly think too much stock is being placed on Suicide Squad, that movie will have no baring on JL reception. The only one that genuinely can at least stop the bleeding is WW.

Agree on Suicide Squad. But I also think WW won't stop the bleeding enough to help the JL box office. If the DCEU were a body, it would have about 10 really bad deep stab wounds. A good WW flick might close up 1 or 2 of them. I mean it's not like WW was a negative in this movie, she was one of the positives to the majority of people. So the GA is just gonna be like "ya, cool a good WW movie, maybe WB should have given JL to this director and writer". Then there is also the fact that it's not just BvS, MoS did some damage too. People that didn't like MoS gave the benefit of the doubt to BvS because it was a movie that had the Trinity and for a lot of people that benefit was pissed on.

I think $900 million is a pipe dream at this point, unfortunately. BvS will lose all its premium screens to Jungle Book this weekend, and there are multiple nationwide releases over the next several weekends, culminating in Civil War. So its domestic theater counts are going to plummet. OS dropped 60% this past weekend to about $34 million so that won't put a lot more in the tank either.

I can see a slightly sub 10M domestic next weekend y'all.

Please WB... for the love of all that's holy... don't keep making the same mistakes with that hack.

At the end of the day, JL should've been a triumph. Something to build upon BVS and take it to even higher heights. As it is, we've already seen the three most iconic heroes of JL together and the audience responded with a yawn. How do you entice more viewers into the cinema with the promise of other heroes that aren't anywhere near as popular and three major ones we've seen already? Even Wonder Woman won't be as fresh at that point because she'll have had her own solo.

Yep. While it may be cool to watch the build up to Thanos. 99% of the GA won't know who he is or care.

It's the heroes they have enjoyed watching the past 10 years going against a huge threat is what will draw them.

MOS starting on a weak foot didn't help BvS either. Batman being cool is great but that only really helps his solo movie. At this point, people may decide to skip the JL in large numbers and just stick to the solo's they enjoy.

Yeah Jungle Book is going to officially bury it. I mean Melissa McCarthy can out do it at the weekend box office. Just imagine what JB will do.

So it's made $780 million right? yeah cant see it going above $870 million at this point,Poni's $850 mil prediction was on the mark.
As for CW BvS may have given that movie a boost.
My name is Clark-Kent. :)

Looks like The Boss held it.

Updated #s show #TheBoss kept its lead over #BatmanvSuperman for #1 spot this wknd w/ $23.6M vs $23.4M. $208k diff.

Daily breakdown this wknd for #TheBoss/#BatmanvSuperman: FRI $8.1M/$6.1M, SAT $9.8M/$10.7M, SUN $5.7M/$6.7M.

The knives will really start coming out now. This makes me feel nothing but sad that it's come down to this. We should have had a BO success on our hands. It's Batman and Superman, for crying out loud.

The Jungle Book is definitely going to bury this movie, especially considering the great reviews it's been getting.

Jungle Book is going to be huuuuge at the box office, I reckon.

Beating the Boss would have just been a minor cosmetic victory. The damage had been done long before this weekend.

Agreed. You know WB and Snyder screwed up badly when they couldn't please an audience with such a "gimme." Batman and Superman in their first movie together should have been a box office juggernaut. So hard to screw up, but by god, they found a way to.

My mind is still blown with how bad this movie is.

Could have adapted DCAU's "World Finest" and this would have done $1b easy.

Civil War, if the early critic reactions are right, is the worst possible thing that could happen to WB right now, because if that film shows a significantly better version of the exact same concept of a film they just released that's going to hurt them even more. It's entirely possible CW will shine an entirely new negative light on BvS by showing audiences 'how it's done', who may subsequently see how flawed BvS is in comparison. If it was 6 or 9 months between the films it might not be as big an issue, but BvS is still going to be fresh in peoples minds. In hindsight, releasing BvS this close to Civil War was the dumbest move WB made.

I wonder if BvS will negatively affect CW with Joe Schmo who doesn't pay that much attention to DC/MCU and figures CBMs are CBMs or has Marvel established a strong enough brand that everyone basically gets it.

Excuse any typos. I have to testify against some "Joker" who broke into some house in my neighborhood and am using my iPad.

Agreed. A World's Finest movie is actually what I personally wanted in the first place.

It's the movie we deserve, but not the one we need... :o

I deleted the rest of what you posted here, because not only was it juvenile, rude, and stupid.....but because it violated this rule from our FAQ -

Violations of Probations and Banning
If you are on probation, you may not post under any account for the amount of days for which you are on probation. Violation of this probation will result in the permanent banning of your ORIGINAL account (permanent loss of entire post count, avatars, etc.,) and an extension of your probation to your NEW name. Continued violation of this rule may result in IP banning. If you are permanently banned, you may not return to SuperHeroHype. Note: the administrators and moderators can tell if you hold more than one account.

......so, your old original name has been perma banned.....and this new name is now on an extended probation.

Have a swell day.

But we LIKE rude, juvenile and stupid. Especially when we're talking about box office numbers. It adds some spice to the discussion.

McCarthy is a YUGE draw and everyone KNEW it would come out on top of BvS. Okay maybe that wasn't rude and juvenile. I'd like to know what the rest of the post was. Along with a lot of others I'm sure. Oh well. That ain't happening.

That's true. To even be in the same neighborhood tells you that somethings wrong.

Domestically speaking, BvS is going to finish well north of $300M and that should be good for a top ten finish. Rogue One, Civil War, Dory, Deadpool and Zootopia all look like good bets to beat it. Of the others, maybe one or two will top it but certainly not all of them.

I don’t think Beasts is topping BvS (only HP7-II and maybe HP1 made more). Ice Age doesn’t have a shot (none have topped $200M). Alice (the first hit $334M) and IDR (ID4 did $306M) may top it but I suspect not. XMA and DS look like long shots and I would expect them more in the $200-250M range. Finally, Jungle Book would either need to hugely overshoot current OW expectations or have truly incredible legs to beat BvS.

In the end, I think BvS will finish sixth or seventh domestically for 2016.

It's going to depend on how those "maybes" are received. Beasts, Dr. Strange and others could do GotG numbers if they are well received. Us nerds rather like magic and maybe they'll have a Dumbledore mention or shot.
