Batman v Superman was always going to have higher standards applied to it. Transformers is what it is and people know it.

Transformers has one thing that BvS doesn't have. And you know what that is? Me neither.

Arguably a "fun" aspect to it.

I dont like all of the Transformers movies, but I enjoyed 2 of them. But I will say, save for the 2nd one, there is always an element of fun to them. Kids love them too. Most of the Transformers movies are easy to follow, make obvious jokes, are bright, and feature a lot of action. Things that kids love and things that BvS doesn't do/doesn't have. I know some who like the film will disagree with me but BvS just isn't fun.

And that's why Transformers made/makes more money

Tone and Bay delivers on giant robot action. It's why people go to see it. Different expectations. Batman and Superman are fully fledged iconic characters.

Yeah, at the end of the day, poorly-made fun is still fun, and it will appeal to those who aren't looking for much other than a 2-hour escape.

But when you've got a film that's not going for "fun" AND is poorly made (according to many), well, people might just choose something else to spend their 12 bucks on.

I mean, save for the 2nd one, I would much rather spend 2 hours watching the other 3 Transformers movies than rewatching BvS

Not because BvS is worse, but just because BvS isn't a fun movie for me to watch. There are like 3-4 scenes I really liked in it.

And I think a lot of people are having the same reaction and that's why it's getting the box office reception it's getting

Already at $720,829,382 WW. I think it can hit $800 million by Monday

I dunno...round up and say $3mil Thursday and maybe $26mil dom over the weekend if it holds well (50%), and that still leaves a bit over $50mil to come from overseas.

I think it's a day or so behind with international numbers updating so we can knock off maybe $4mil, so still $46mil needed.

I get the feeling the drop overseas will be at least as big as last weeks, possibly more given Jungle Book is opening in a lot or markets. Last weekends overseas was $85mil so I'm thinking $40mil tops atm. Maybe closer to $30mil.

So I'd expect a bit lower than $800mil tbh. An optimistic high end seems more $794mil, but could be around $780mil (maybe less) given the International markets might well be tapping out now.

Aye, at least Transformers is like 2 hours of dumb fun that you can switch your brain off and enjoy the mayhem, that concepts good enough for some repeat viewings.

BvS had none of that though.

i also think the international 450 million is thru 4/5 not 4/6.

the exhibitor tweet that was based on said

international 450 million 90 million was china

box office mojo has china at 96 million

china did do 21 million monday and 6 million tuesday.

btw monday was a holiday in china.

i got all this info on the forums at boxoffice

BvS did not do 21 million in China on Monday, that is one of the biggest lies I have seen on this forum....

I did not believe it either. so i looked at box office mojo international for china

it says china is 96 million. look for yourself

I think he meant 2.1 million. Anyone hear back on how huge an impact Finland's massive audience drop will be on the international box office of the movie?

The huge drops from Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Luxembourg also will crush this movie's chances of real international success

I don't even have a pitchfork, but I do have a sawzall and a table saw. Maybe we can do some sort of Pit and Pendulum movie???

 ......

So about the box office.

Said the goose to the gander. I'm sure if I checked out your one off comments, they'd prolly be pretty low too.

No. monday was a national holiday according to the original poster who said this. on the box office forums they have a separate thread and people who live in china post there. they said 21 million

last friday china put i 2 chinese movies that took a lot of theaters away and gave Bvs a terrible weekend but a tremendous monday holiday

Box office mojo has china at 96 million.

it's doing much better than expected or somebodys wrong;look at boxofficemojo yourself

Just watched the Boss red band trailer. I think it will make at least 20 million beating BvS. I believe it has a 80% chance of beating BvS this weekend.

Ok I just read the Big news that Melissa will be returning to Gilmore Girls on Netflix so that is now a 100% chance lol. the Boss will be the boss of the boxoffice

Her previous movie Spy opened to 29m

But i think this make a bit over Tammy which saw a similar release in about the same number of theatres and that made 21 million. The Boss has a slightly more interesting premise and a better known supporting cast therefore I see it making the projected number which is $24 million.

1. The Boss - $24m
2. BvS - $19m
3. Zootopia - $15m

My money's on BvS edging it out from The Boss for the No.1 BO spot.

Iron Man 3 121 million in China.

Captain america winter soldier 115 million

The transformers are not fun at all, imo. The original cartoon, that was fun. The movies are just loud chaotic messes that run an hour longer then they should.

Sorry, but I had to say this. Anyone thinking Transformers is fun... has a strange sense of fun.

Yeah, I must say-- I will take BvS over TF any day.
