BvS Batman V Superman Box Office Prediction - - - - - Part 14

Anything less than a billion for this movie equates to it under-performing, IMO. It was clearly meant to play in that ball field. The huge opening is proof of its potential. Had it been able to impress more of that initial audience, they would have either come back for repeat viewings or at least spread the word and this movie would be making a over a billion.
WB expected a billion and it fell short for good reason. WB is the new terrible superhero studio. Fox finally learned their lessons and Sony partnered with Marvel. WB is now the king of the bad decisions. It will be interesting to see what they learn from this after MoS and BvS both underperforming.

Your opinion is not fact. Having said that, in my opinion, both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice provide a superior experience than all Marvel films, barring Captain America: The Winter Soldier (which is only slightly below them in my book), because both films feature stories that genuinely give the impression that the stakes are high and feature villains who truly convey a sense of urgency; in both films, people (whether they be innocents or the villains themselves) actually die or are seriously hurt. You don't get that with Marvel films, barring Quicksilver.

Furthermore, the drama surrounding the titular characters is much more intense and realistic, such as the world's divided stance regarding Superman and his subsequent gloomy nature or Batman's failed efforts at effecting a lower crime rate, as well as his loss of comrades, and his subsequent abandonment of his vow to never kill.

Say what you will, but in my opinion the DCEU is superior to the MCU; it features better films. Period.

Finally someone who gets it. I see I'm not the the only one sick of these kid friendly Marvel family flicks.

There ok for 1 viewing but have no rewatchability factor.

I saw BvS 3 times and still watch it for cinematic awe of comic pages coming unlike the dull action in Marvel movies.

Exactly, the film isn't accessible. It alienates the audience with all of the heavy-handed real world terror allegories and philosophy book readings, I guess that stuff appeals to some people for some reason but the majority of filmgoers don't want to see any of that in Batman v Superman. It's ill-conceived and poorly executed.
Thats whats wrong with Marvel movies, they cater to the masses with light hearted family flicks. So glad DC is bold enough to take chances and deliver movies that cater to hardcore comic book fans.

The transformers are not fun at all, imo. The original cartoon, that was fun. The movies are just loud chaotic messes that run an hour longer then they should.

Sorry, but I had to say this. Anyone thinking Transformers is fun... has a strange sense of fun.

I think, in particular, that Crapformers: Age of SuckStinkTion was more fun than than a rusty nail in my eardrum or bamboo under my fingernails (the latter I'll maybe rethink). It ran on for about 165 minutes longer than it should have.

How that movie made more money than BvS (note box office reference :woot: ), MoS, Shaun the Sheep, Night of the Living Dead, or Plan 9 from Outer Space (adjusted for inflation or not) completely befuddles me.

I suppose I'll just have to chalk it up to laziness on my part and on the part of a lot of my compadres y compañeros.

so sick of this idiotic Marvel bashing we are supposed to be talking about box office, not about how much "cooler" you are because you watch DC films and hate Marvel films...

Catering to these die hard fans and not general audience cost WB hundreds of millions...

No, you two are not the only ones sick of the "kid-friendly" Marvel films. However, both of you are in the minority, as the box office sales are showing. Apparently, not even your fellow "hardcore" comic fans are eating it up either. The numbers don't lie.

Anyway, on topic: I expect another massive 55% drop this weekend.

Just shows how iconic these characters are. This movie was made for die for die hard fans with no regard for children and will still make over 800 million.

Of course family friendly movies will most likely always have better box office return. Im just glad DC is taking a diff approach to there universe.

Marvel, like Pixar, understands that it's characters are for both kids and adults(:

The last two "non kid friendly/dark/super serious" dc films that featured Batman both grossed over a billion, before inflation and massive overseas box office growth. This movie is just not liked, and it's box office is losing hundreds of millions for it.

I'm predicting The Boss edges out BvS by under a million this weekend, and that Jungle Book is going to crush it overseas. I think a 50% drop there minimum, but likely larger, pushing $800 to next Tuesday or Wednesday.

MCU films are not kid films like Pixar, they're just movies that everybody can enjoy.

They also don't always have to cater to children and families. I just prefer my movies darker and serious.

Pixar makes movies that everybody can enjoy too. Like I said, not necessarily kids films.

Funny enough, the animated versions of these characters can go just as dark, while actually being complex and having the right characterizations. And guess what? It's also pretty damn fun and 'for kids'.

congrats for derailing this thread. its called BOX OFFICE prediction. because I PREDICT that BvS will crumble under the Boss.

The Boss: 20 to 25 million
BvS: 15 to 19 million (it is tracking for another -70 to 65% drop)
Zootopia: 13 to 16 million

BvS' final domestic gross: 220-230M
ww: 800-850M

If by "diff approach" you mean s***** movies, then DC has def cornered the superhero market.

Lol Silver Surfer totally agree. The best part is how pathetic this tub of **** really is. $250+ million and this is the best they could come up with. Regardless, it seems the world opinion on this film is quite clear and the numbers prove this through and through. The hit from China is the funniest news I've heard in a while

Yeah... Pixar films are pretty much kid movies that Parents/older people can enjoy. Not like Marvel films which are mature films that Kids can enjoy.

Stupid Disney brainwashed our minds with quality Marvel/Pixar/Star Wars/Animation movies. How dare they. :o

how does that work when it already has 270 million domestically ???

People claiming that Pixar/Disney/Marvel movies are for kids are mistaken. Have they not watched Zootopia or Winter Soldier? These movies handled handled serious themes perfectly. On top of that they were immensely entertaining and very well made. Snyder will NEVER be able to make movies like them.

Zootopia is great! It's pitty that the movie won't made a 1 billion, because that's a movie that deserves it.

Everyone can say what they want about Disney, but they are slowly conquering the world lol I mean, Marvel/Star Wars/Animated movies, Pirates of the Caribbean etc ... Even their live-action movies are a total hit boxofficewise (except a few misses here and there like Tomorrowland).
I won't be surprised if sometime in the future they will buy DC.

Forget just DC, I wouldn't be surprised if they bought Warner Bros. in its entirety in the future. Fox almost did it a few years back, but from what I understand they just couldn't settle on a price. If WB can't get a profitable DCEU off the ground, and if their new Potter franchise launch isn't the monster hit they're hoping for, I could see them reconsidering for the right price. And after that failed takeover bid, THR named Disney as one of the studios most likely to offer the right price.

I will be happy if Disney buys Warner Bros. I think they have enough sense to fire Snyder and hire a good director to make Superman and Justice League movies. If they do end up buying them, I hope they don't mix DC and Marvel universes though. I will like to see them separate. Isn't it funny that Snyder is single handedly destroying Warner Bros and they are too stupid to see that? All they need is to approach someone like Matthew Vaughn to do the Justice League and they will be saved. But if they had that much sense, they wouldn't have hired Snyder for BVS in the first place. I am still puzzled that he was hired for even MOS right after making the crap that was Sucker Punch.

I think they will leave the movie universes separated, but combine the Comics universe slowly, like having Superman show up in 616 to beat Galactus, or have Thanos show up on Apokolips and overthrow Darkseid. The MCU is too successful to F around with, Disney knows that.

I don't think they'd ever mix the universes. So far it seems like they've been pretty good with letting these other studios they buy maintain their independence. Marvel Studios remains Marvel Studios and pretty much calls all their own shots, just with the requisite Disney stamp of approval. Same with Lucasfilm. I wouldn't expect it to be any different for WB/DC if they were to ever buy them. We just might see the characters thrown together in various merchandising ventures, like a Marvel vs. Capcom vs. DC videogame or something, lol.
