It's not inexplicable if you feel the film is a failure on many levels, and want it to do badly so Snyder is removed (or at least his influence greatly lessened) in any further DC projects.

True, but there's a key difference in saying it like that versus the malice that others have used in expressing the same.

Age of Ultron Worldwide: $1,405,413,868

Batman v Superman currently Worldwide:
$742,795,542

Just a bit of a ways to go for those that thought BvS was the movie to chase the competition. ;)
Definitely would have been an accomplishment to surpass the avengers sequel in one swoop. That being said, perhaps when they make their own avengers movie, the failure will be even more apparent.

Why wasn't it released in china?

So what's the likely WW outcome for this now?

Honestly, i dont think it has a chance of reaching Zootopia globally, that hasnt come out yet in Japan and i bet its gonna get a big push from over there, and i dont think its gonna make more than Inside Out...

I don't even think it'll crack $850 million now.

My God. I can't wait to see what JL does. It's going to be a disaster.

My, my it's astonishing to see the hate some have on here for this movie, Snyder, WB...

But we all know most (if not certainly all) will still pay $ to see Justice League when and if it does indeed go as planned with Snyder at the helm.

I can think of at least one that won't.

Does anyone else think WB may get cold feet after the crash and burn at the box office and take a more hands on approach for JL....

they're even dumber than I thought.

Yeah, but whose hands? At this point, I wouldn't trust any of them to run a sno-cone stand let alone a studio.

I want them to just get the animation guys to do the live action. Is that too hard to ask?

Because China felt it was too raunchy for their sensitive viewing audience...
that's a shame.
money on the table and all of that.
Perhaps with a better film, they can make even more next time.

From the Variety article posted yesterday:

I’m told production exec Jon Berg and Time-Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes are taking more of a hands-on approach now, paying closer attention to overarching story concerns, but someone well-versed in both production and DC’s minutiae is what’s needed.
Not Sure about Justice League specifically.

I wouldn't really worry about that anymore.

If anything, more people are likely to question Zack Snyder more. He might not even have a very fun time during production trying to explain certain sequences to studio execs and have a very strict budget to adhere to.

His box office record is beginning to paint a picture that may work against him in the future, if it hasn't already.

I don't think they would know how to improve it by being hands on anyway. The execs have seemed a bit clueless so far.

This total doesn't surprise me. I can't remember a time where BvS rode any type of positive momentum over this 3 year period. It was doom and gloom the moment MoS ended and it certainly carried over to every casting announcement that came after it. Then the 1 year pushback left even more doubt about this movie for the skeptics to ride out. Hell, Man of Steel had way more positivity heading into the movie that BvS could of ever dreamed of. MOS went downhill the moment the embargo lifted in 2013 and BvS rode those coattails. I've never seen expectations so high with people who yet, found every reason not to like it.

Audiences are use to the Marvel Avengers style action and rapid pace setting movies. Ever since Iron man 3, every movie has been at a winning pace. A lot of people expected Avengers type action and wanted to see Superman and Batman duke it out and see a huge Justice League formation in the 3rd act. Didn't get it. Instead they got a dark and moody film that was a platform for the DCEU yet to take shape. The rotten reviews only sealed that fate. I'm shocked this movie is making as much as it is givin the despise of the DCEU from the beginning.

But it won't take much. I say all WB needs to do is temper the expectations and realize 2 world building films with brand new characters won't get you 1+ billion. There's so much more to take care of first. Stay the course and reap the benefits later. It was all about Justice League anyway. That's all we've heard about since 2009. If JL does 800mil, then consider rebooting if you must.

They definitely remind me Sony right now... Guess they'll probabyl add some *fun* scenes to Skwad, Wonder woman and JL now.

I don't think there's anything they can do to increase the box office take of the current plan. IMO, they will probably do better to let it be and move forward than trying to tinker with it and expect a better result at the box office.

Either let it move forward or just stop it. But much has already been invested in JL1 counting on the revenue from BVS that it's probably too late. But I'm in the minority that enjoyed BVS and look forward to the story continuing.
