Kevin Conroy is Batman. I know he's older now, but it's not like Batman was extremely young when he started out. McKenzie's voice isn't right, but of course, I'll watch it and enjoy (I hope).

so perfect, this might be the first to be better than MOTP

I like all the voices, McKenzie's included. I think they needed to make it constantly clear that this is Batman at his youngest stage, the very beginning. Sounding younger than the voices we're used to associating with the character is key. McKenzie is perfect because he sounds obviously younger, but not like a boy.

Man, Bryan Cranston as Gordon great. Gives Oldman a run for his money, and that ain't easy to do.

I'm not totally satisfied with McKenzie and Bruce/Batman, but actually experiencing the voice coming from the character in animation could help me warm to it.

First look at Batman: Year One

Screw anyone who thinks the animation isn't on par with Mazzucchelli artwork. That looks fu**in amazing! :wow: And i'm loving the voice actors for the roles, they are almost pitch perfect.

I have a feeling I'm going to like Alex Rocco as Falcone. The man's pretty much got the gangster thing down to an art. :woot:

McKenzie's voice is interesting. He's obviously younger sounding like we've had in the past with Terry or Dick, for example. What I find interesting is that he comes off as the most angry to me. Because he's young, the anger is fresh and boiling. He also sounds more ghoulish than others to me.

McKenzie is the only voice i'm skeptical about the rest are great!

All the voices seem to have a film noir quality to them. Is it just me that hears it that way?

Yeah Batman has this whispery angry voice, it's good.

The stills look great. The Batman reminds me of some of the art in the New Frontier movie, which is good. The rest are spot on for Mazzucchelli's art.

I missed out on the video, WB pulled it before I could take a look.

Looks amazing but the voice for Bats is horrible, everyone I have shown the preview to agrees.

I think Batman's voice is fine for a young Batman. Either way I can look past the voice due to the overall faithfulness to the source material that the movie seems to have.

Horrible? Come on, I think you're over exaggerating. There are worse voices I can think of that could have been chosen. This fits a young Batman.

Awesome, escept for the batman casting choice. his voice is just poor and mediocre. Not because it sounds young, it's because it just sounds plain.

From the sneek peek video I think that the actors they chose sounds great, Cranston especially and McKenzie's voice is growing on me. I can't wait to hear them together with the animation in the movie.

No to me it sounds horrible along with my brother and best friend, I'll still buy it but yeah they should have cast someone with more gravitas. He sounds young but almost too young and it just doesn't work for me. I think Bruce has a naturally deep voice to begin with so the young excuse doesn't play well with me either.

It's not an excuse. It's clearly an intentional creative decision. Of course it's fine that it doesn't work for you, but for those of us it does work for, we aren't just saying he's supposed to sound young to "excuse" a misfire or something - he IS supposed to sound young. It's an important aspect of the story. Just like, if they were casting it for live-action, the actor would need to LOOK young, regardless of how we're used to seeing Batman look in other stories.

It's not like he sounds like a boy (or Leo DiCaprio or Andrew Garfield) or something. He's got a nice young-but-masculine voice, imo.

His pitch is fine I don't really like his intonation. Very minor complaint in an overall seemingly great voice cast including Ben.

As for him sound young, well duh. It's called Year One for a reason. This is when he was giving his try at creating this creature and he can't do anything about attaining a gruffness he hasn't developed due to both age and his lack of exposure to all the elements that would create a hoarser voice.

Anyway the voice acting in this seems beyond incredible. Everyone seems to be giving their A game.

I think his voice fits well. Anyone older would seem out of place for a young batman. I know we are all used to the Kevin Conroy type of voice but I think Mckenzie's is a nice change of pace without being too off.
