I think Hancock has an excellent chance of making more than TDK. My feeling is that TDK will finish 5th for the summer because I think Wall-E will make more as well.

I think people are way overestimating Wall-e and Hancock. There is no doubt that both will do well, but I don't really see them crossing the 300M mark especially Hancock. I think the best hancock can do is 250 and the worst is 190. I don't see TDK placing bellow 3rd at the worst.

Very interesting. I like what I'm hearing on this. I never expect it to be 100%.

And the only reason Hancock will be successful or not is because of Will Smith. Even when he make some bad films (I Am Legend), it still made money because he is a popular star. TDK got more than that, so I doubt Hancock going to make more at the box office than TDK. Just my opinion, of course.

I really wish people would stop using that elitist attitude towards this character and this film. At the end of the day, TDK might be a better movie than both, but that doesn't mean that this somehow isn't a Batman/DC Comics/superhero film.

I think what he means is that comic adaptations, mostly Marvel adaptations, have a certain "look" and "feel" to them. Yes they were good films in general, but it felt like a comic adaptation. Like, you could see the similarities between Spiderman, Iron Man, and Hulk, for example. Mostly in the action scenes.

Begins felt different...it felt devoid of "comicbookiness." It stood on its own as if Batman was originally a street crime concept.

I liked it, and I think it works perfectly for Batman as opposed to say, Superman or Spiderman.

Maybe it's Marvel Comics that has that stamp, not so much DC. I didn't even realize 300 was a comic adaptation until I took a college english class based on comics.

It looks like a whole lot more of the same we've gotten from the first two.


1. Two undead armies running at each to battle it out...Check!
2. Main characters ride in a beat up plane that looks like it's about to break down and driven by a kooky pilot...Check!
3. The expected and typical lame one liners from Brendan Fraser...Check!
(Don't get me wrong, I think Fraser is great at what he does but for a third Mummy film it doesn't look that original except for one and only one fact...it's in asia/the mummy is asian).

I'm sure it will make a good amount of money at the BO but don't think it's going to own TDK or Wall-E.

The Mummy series (though one of my favorite in films) has been seeing diminishing returns for a while now. I think the next one looks terrible and it'll be lucky to get TIH numbers.

Edit- And The Mummy will be a mosquito bite on kevlar for TDK. You have the film which should be worrying about the other reversed.

The Mummy 3 and X-Files 2 each have about zero anticipation. Was anybody exactly begging for them to make sequels to thse dead franchises anyway?

I'm more inclined to worry about Step Brothers, a Will Ferell vehicle that actually looks funny.

I really thought that Iron Man have been greater than TDK because you figure kids would like a guy in a "super-robot suit" more than a guy dressed as a Bat, but I have a feeling the overwhelming fanboy support with the unfortunate death of Heath may push TDK over the top.
