The Dark Knight Batman's Competition in 2008

Advanced Dark said:
That's because people who eat Happy Meals were not a suitable audience for the very dark Batman Begins. LOL

yes, i know, but that was just an example of how studios push their movies. most superhero flicks pull that, but the BB campaign was smart, and gace just enough of a push.

I, for one, am not looking forward to Indiana Jones 4. I just saw Firewall, and let me tell you, Harrison Ford has NOT aged well.

Not aged well? The guy is almost 64 years old! I think he looks pretty damn good for 64. We all should be so lucky.

Yeah, mcfly is right.

I'd love to be kicking that much ass like he does in Firewall at 64. Hell, I'd love to stab someone in the back with a pickaxe at any age.

Actually, I'm talking Domestic, which the only place i care about really. And Batman owned Indy in the states.

Who cares? You have to look at the big picture. Movies are making more on the international front than domestic nowadays with some exceptions. Indiana Jones has more worldwide appeal which is more important to the studio than the appeal of one country.

batman wil be the evnt movie to see.

Batmans return plus joker? c'mon.

The only movies that'll give Batman 2 a run for its movie are Inidana Jones 4, Hulk 2(if advertised as a pure action flick) and whatever animated movie comes out.

As much as I would like it to, Iron Man will not make near as much as Batman 2. I see Iron Man making(if lucky) between 100 mil-150, making its money back. I just can't see the general public getting behind it. Look at Hellboy, a damn good movie, but it only made 60 mil. I hope to God I'm wrong though.

In my perfect world, Iron Man makes Spider-man type numbers, with Hulk and Batman really close behind

Iron Man will do much much better than Hulk 2

Batman Begins will be in the top 5 100% for sure. Indiana Jones owns #1 slot. Period. Die Hard will be in the top 10.

1) Indiana Jones $300-350 million
2) Batman Begins $250 million
3) Iron Man $200 Million (maybe more just too untested to tell now.)

x) Hulk (If done right) could be $250-275 million easily. (probably 2009)
x) Die Hard $150-175 Million

(I need to look at the rest of the films coming then I'll fill the rest out).

If Hulk 2 slips into 2008 and get's a great director and Avi arad & Marvel really make this the Hulk film that the masses want it'll make way more than Batman Begins because it'll be more fun, more suited for kids. I think Hulk 2 will slip into 2009 though. Hulk to me has more "potential" than Fantastic Four or X-Men at the box office. Just hasn't been done right yet to maximize the box office.

I think the CGI/Pixar type films are losing steam but Incredibles 2 would give it a boost.

Does TIH really have that much box office potential ? I am going to see it, but a lot of people didn't like the first, and even if they get everything right I don't think it can make over 200m domestic.

I think Hulk 2 will suck because they will try to "fix" Hulk 1. Don't fix something that was f***ing awesome.

The fact that he could do it wasn't the problem - the problem was that watching him do it while mumbling and overacting and crapping his pants on screen wasn't entertaining. I want a hot, virile Indy - not one who has to wear Depends so that he won't drop his lemonade while navigating a decrepid rope bridge.

I want to see Indiana Jones 4. It doesn't mean I won't see Batman 2 though. I'll see both of them multiple times. The way I see it, a lineup like that will make for a pretty good summer.

Anyone else think this summer sucks for movies? Can't wait for Supes.

yeah, it does seem to suck this year.

Magneto and Wolverine are supposed to be released in the same year? haha. thats funny to me. I thought halo was supose to come out summer 2007.

Where did you get this list from??

"Magneto" will mainly be a drama, while "Wolverine" will definitely focus more on action. If Fox is serious about releasing both in the same year, "Magneto" will probably be a fall or spring release, with "Wolverine" launching in the summer. Still, these are tentative plans and "Magneto" could be pushed to a 2009 release instead.

"Halo" was supposed to be a 2007 release, but the film still doesn't have a director officially attached. Executive Producer Peter Jackson did offer the gig to Guillermo del Toro, but he's knee-deep in prepping "Hellboy 2" although he did express interest. Unless a director is hired within the next couple of months, this one won't hit theaters until 2008, largely because the film will be stuck in post-production for about a year as Weta Digital completes the FX work.

dude. Weta doing a giant alien war would kick total ass.

If Cameron's Project 880 has been moved to 2008 then it may well be the event movie of the summer

Isn't that his sci fi movie? Yeah, thanks Jim. Maybe next time you'll direct the Skynet movie, bastard.

Batman could beat all those movies with some prep time.

I doubt Magneto and Wolverine will be released the same year...that seems like too much to me unless they plan on getting them out of the way quick for the following X-Men film

give batman 2 a may release date other then the second weekend, and itll be the event of the summer.

Yes,based off the script for Avatar

That would put it and Iron Man to close together

Is Indiana Jones 4 ever coming out?

As far as BB 2 being hurt by the box office by its dark tone, I think if anything given the critical praise, respectable box office run and great DVD sales of the first, it will probably do better than the first (by how much, I dont know)
