I heard it was a big broadway musical and don't be surprised if it takes a massive amount of money away from TDK.

as of late ive seen more Mamma Mia spots then TDK.

Why does it simply seem you want TDK to not do well?

Dreamgirls - 19th in '06 (103 mil)

Moulin Rouge! - 43rd in '01 (57 mil)

Hairspray - 24th in '07 (118 mil)

Best opening weekend of the bunch at 27 mil

Also that month

Transformers - July 3rd
Harry Potter - July 11th
Hairspray - July 20th

This Year

Hancock - July 2nd
Hellboy - July 11th
TDK - July 18th
Mamma Mia! - July 18th
X-Files - July 25th

I really don't think Mamma Mia! will cut into TDK that much. In fact the opposite - it doesn't bode well for MM. People will be done with Hancock and let's face it, Hellboys not going to be as big as some of us would like it to be. Looks pretty good for TDK imo.

This film is SELLING OUT theaters THREE WEEKS before it opens. That is amazing, incredible and ridiculous. This movie will have banked the types of numbers you are predicting by Sunday morning.

Some people hate on TDK just because it's the "cool" thing to do. There is no way Mamma Mia is a serious threat to TDK and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to take a step back into reality.

Mama Mia being a threat to TDK thats a joke. Come on i would beleave it when some said Space Chimps was a threat, but lets look at the facts TDK is the biggest movie of the summer hell of the year & so far every review seems to be praising TDK from real critics to casual fans. TDK doesnt need to spam there tv spots just yet cause the movie is already well known and is selling out all over from tickets to toys to shirts to anything that has the name TDK on it. 100mil is not impossible 80mil is just a safe bet.

oh....heres that thread...I was looking for this after I saw an early screening of Hancock...which some predict will be huge based on it bing a Will Smith July 4th weekend opener...that may be true...but I don't think it'll make hundreds of Willions....because the movie friggin' sucked...and will be no competition whatsoever for TDK. So...I'll repeat...this is Smith's worst movie since Wild Wild West and I'm glad I got to see it free. If it becomes a huge hit in the coming weeks...I will have lost faith in the general public for supporting such a garbage movie.

Mama Mia, what a bunch of silly nonsense. I hate it when people want to see something fail for the sole purpose of being able to say I told you so, or even worse because they are a fan of the competition. I liked Iron Man and the Hulk to a lesser extent, and didn't want to see them fail.

You were obviously biased going in to this film. I was able to get a look at the film early as well and found it very entertaining. It was hilarious and even had a little substance.
