I think Hancock will have a big opening cuz of Will Smith´s clout and then sink like a rock. This movie has Wild Wild West stench all over it.

Wild Wild west was widely hated there are people who actually like Hancock in fact there are professional reviewers actually saying good things about it. Every one paned Wild Wild West.

Yeah, apparently it will have a $62m OW which is good but hardly impressive, considering everything. Plus WOM won't be too good on this one... :o

Say what you want about the word of mouth whatever but are you seriously saying that a 62M ow isn't good? First of all that good by just about anyone's standards second of all the movie opened up on Tuesday night meaning that the money it got from Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday all effected the weekend intake. I think it will have decent second week legs but Drop off drastically when TDK comes out.

On a side note I wish Hancock would of come out at a later or earlier date and Hellboy would of come out this week. Poor Hellboy is getting screwed to the wall this year. Stuck between these two movies really screwed it.

I guess I expected "more" for the OW. I do understand the impact of opening earlier in the week though.

I disagree on the legs, I don't think it will hold up as well as some people think, mainly because of WOM.

Agreed about Hellboy. Shame. But I'm sure Del Toro will make a third one after The Hobbit films.

Well I enjoyed it and I know there are a decent amount of positive reviews out so I don't think WoM will be all that bad. Plus I just said it would have a decent second week I think after that it will lose it's legs due to TDK, but lets face it the biggest competition it has second week is Hellboy so it can't be to bad for it. I see it coming in right around a 50% drop which is common for this type of film.

He can only do a third one if the studio will back him. If this one does to bad this just may be the end.

Considering that a lot of predictions for Hancock´s opening were between 108m to as high as 115m, a 100m-105m is slightly underwhelming, even though still a strong opening, but the next weekend I expect a very big drop. The vast majority of critics are trashing it.

The reviews are hampering this film. The buzz for this was sky high a couple of months ago, but this thing started tanking within the past few weeks. Crazy how that works.

Hancock, right?

Eh, the buzz was killed for me when AICN ran reviews from Hancock screenings that took place a few months ago. The juju was bad for that movie even then.

I think after The Hobbit films he will have more power in Hollywood to get almost any movie greenlit. Plus, the fist Hellboy didn't do amazing numbers, yet the sequel is almost here.

Ahh so then you can't read? There are negative reviews but to say the vast majority are trashing is simply wrong.

Hancock has a 36% rotten tomatoes and 5.3 average rating. To say it doesn't have a negative reception is simply wrong.

Every real person I have heard talk about it has hated it.

Yeah Hancock seems to be disliked by a hell load & when people do try to defend the movie it just comes out as them saying if you didnt like it was cause you didnt notice that one scene that only lasted like one min of the girl explaining so and so yeah the movie just looks like a good idea done wrong

Why are you getting so defensive about Hancock? The movie has a terrible rating among critics.

Hancock is just a poser among the real superheroes of the summer. :o

Strange how we could be getting such opposite reactions because everyone I know enjoyed it including my self.

Also I ignore Rotten Tomatoes and never use it as a source considering some of the movies that get in the 90's lets Face it look at Transformers score tell if that movie is really better then every movie it's higher then? Or is it even close to as good? I prefer independent sites which actually seem to be giving it very average reviews. For example just today I saw a reviewer who has been talking down about the movie since before it came out. Now that he has seen it he gave it a 3.5 out of 5 and said it was actually entertaining.

I'm defensive because half the things being said are highly inaccurate. For example the movie actually has a very average rating among critics not actually Terrible.

I'm also defensive because of comments like your second one. Just because it is something trying to be original and not based off of a pre existing comic you automatically hate it. Most comic fans hated this movie before it ever came out simply because it isn't a comic.

I didn't think that Hancock was the second coming I thought it was entertaining and unique. I enjoyed it. It wasn't Batman Begins, but it was certainly a hell of a lot better than Spider-man 3 or X3.

I see this thread has quieted down a bit after explode7 was banned :o
