MAY!? That's so far!!! I was hoping it would fall in March/April so that I would have something to watch after Spartacus and before Game of Thrones.

I realized that actually. I have read them in published order, not chronological order in the universe. It's also a bit confusing how some things aren't acknowledged directly at all like [blackout]Watson's wife dying[/blackout]. It's acknowledged in that [blackout]he's single again[/blackout] but there's only vague reference to what happened. I blacked it out because even though this is well over a century old, someone would complain about a spoiler. The Final Problem was supposed to be the last one, but popular demand (and a huge amount of money!) convinced Doyle to bring the character back. At first with Baskervilles (which does indeed take place before TFP) But then with The Return Of Sherlock Holmes, which chronologically takes place after his 'death'.
The Final chronological Holmes story, I believe, is His Final Bow.
(Sorry, I'm just a huge Holmes-Geek!)
@steven_moffat Steven Moffat said:Sherlock returns, Sunday,Jan 1st, 8.10pm, BBC1. First the woman, then the Hound and then, of course, the fall...
http://sherlockology.tumblr.com/To close, A Scandal in Bohemia is one of the biggest and most famous Conan Doyle stories. In our opinion, A Scandal in Belgravia is the biggest and strongest episode of Sherlock seen thus far. The ultimate display of mind games between the sexes, its richer, more confident, more complex, more surprising, more emotional, funnier, darker, and somehow displaying a greater degree of tension than anything in series one, it sets a high benchmark for the other two episodes in series two. The greatest question is, when it explodes onto television screens in the very early New Year, what other drama onscreen in 2012 has a hope of matching it?
I think it's January for the UK, and May for the US.
