BBC's Sherlock: Series 3

Everyone I know said that until The Reichenbach Fall. That's the one where he shines to many. He only has about 5 minutes of screentime before that in total.

The circumstances of what happened to Sherlock are much different. We saw him planning something with the doctor, he made Watson stand in a very specific spot to see his jump (which blocked view of the hit), and Watson got knocked down/dizzied on his way to the body.

Moriarty shot himself point blank.

Yes..... and? Moriarty is as smart as Sherlock. Do you really think that he wasn't smart enough to deduce that Sherlock would come to the conclusion he did, forcing Moriarty to kill himself, so Sherlock would have to do the same?

Both deaths were thought out beforehand and planned to be non fatal.

Yeah not really a fan of this Moriarty. I get that they wanted to do something different with him, just didn't work all that well for me.

Imagine this Sherlock going up against the Harris Moriarty. :wow:

I like how in this series, all the characters seem to be a bit younger and stuff. It just feels that way to me somehow.

Did the books ever say how old the characters were supposed to be? I know Irene was supposed to be young/middle aged and Moriarty was supposed to be older (a professor), but did it ever actually say the characters' ages?

I can't remember but Sherlock/Watson felt to be late 30's, early 40's. Moriarty late 50's/early 60's...

In the books Holmes and Watson were actually both quite young. Holmes is born in 1854 and Watson is born in 1852. Dr Watson meets him in 1881 so Holmes is 27 and Watson is 29. Most of their adventures spanned the first few years they became friends, which would place them in their late twenties/early thirties.

Holmes became a Consulting Detective at the age of 20.

Their later years span into the early 1900's up through I think the '10's. I'd have to recheck those dates though but Holmes and Watson were at least into their mid 40's/early 50's by the end if not older.

Watson, not being very observant again. :awesome:

I don't think that's actually Sherlock. If you look closely, you can see him sort of fading out over the background shot of the car with both the lower half of his body and the backdoor to the car visible. But maybe that's just the window reflection.

My guess is a reflection. If he were to imagine or hallucinate Sherlock, wouldn't he have him posed or facing him in some way? Of course they could be going for that recollection or subconcious angle instead. Though it still seems odd to have him be ethereal.

Yeah I know, looking at it again it does look more like a reflection. On the other hand if this is at a point where Watson doesn't know that Sherlock is alive, he wouldn't stand literally next to him, just separated by a sheet of glass and have John not noticing someone - his dead best friend - standing there. And if he knows Sherlock's alive then why is he standing there like that? So it could be a recollection.

It could be recollective or it's a hint to the future of Sherlock. I would not be surprised if there was a clue embedded in there although that is stretching it.

And probably the truth is we're over thinking it. :D

^^ Is it coming to America in Christmas or this for the U.K.? I can't click on the link.

About time someone started taking the lead to release shows on disc sooner rather than later.

I remember the wait for the Series 2 Blu-Ray being agonizing.

This will air in the UK first right?

I always plan to dl this from UK rips way before (like SKINS, MISFITS, Luthor, etc), it would ever air here...
