Mystery/Thriller BBC's Sherlock

I rewatched the episode, and must have caught it in a better mood. It's a decent show, with good writing and good leads. The last episode suffered from trying to move at a breakneck pace, which diminished tension and, to some degree, clarity. If there had only ever been one woman in one car reading from her blackberry with C4 strapped around her waist, then I think the episode would have been stronger.

And Moriarty just wasn't good. There is no avoiding the fact. I can see that Gatiss wanted to slightly reinvent him, making him more manic in line with The Joker and the latest trends in supervilliany. But it felt cheap, partly because the actor lacked the talent to achieve the desired effect, partly because such a generic arch villain seemed an anticlimax after all that build up. I join with those hoping that this Moriarty is just a stooge standing in for the real deal, played by someone like Timothy Dalton.

Still want to see the whole show taken to the provinces, for Hound of the Baskervilles meets Withnail and I.

Nah, your avvy if funnier than anything Dane Cook has ever said in his life.

I loved Sherlock, can't wait for more! Only wished we had more then 3.

Old lady said: voice was soft. Moriarty:Voice not soft.
Not the real moriarty? (Big supposition) Well at least I hope he isn't.

Not going to happen. The actor might play the part a little different, but I think it would be much more lame for them to reveal that there's another Moriarty and that this guy's a fake, and I think the writers know this as well.

This series was brilliant right up to the introduction of Moriarty. That guy was a disaster.

If we get more shows I hope they just recast the actor or tell us in the show that he was just another pawn of the real Professor Moriarty.

I hope this idea occurs to the writers.

Who would you all like as Moriarty? My votes are for Timothy Dalton or Jason Isaacs.

I really, really do not. Yes, the Moriarty we got might have left something to be desired, but that would be horribly contrived and kill any suspense the first season had. All they need to do is have the Moriarty guy tone down his performance a bit. He was only really obnoxious when he got overly manic and silly. He actually okay in the couple of instances where he was talking normally.

Yeah, just get the current guy to tweak his performance. I don't even mind Moriarty being slightly camp, so much as the way the guy played it.

Agreed. Don't recast, but tone him down a bit. I liked the fact that he was young and unsuspecting. That makes him brilliant and Sherlock's main enemy.

Honestly, the only parts that actually bothered me is when he said "daddy's had enough now," and the faces he made during the "I'm gonna burn you" bit. Everything else seemed fine. Standard villain snark fair.

I'm not sure 'standard' really cuts it. It is a performance that is at best forgivable, but nothing other than a disappointment.

My point is that it wasn't the worst thing in the history of things. All he needs to do is tone it down a bit, avoid his falsetto range, and it'll be fine.

I have to say i had mo problems with Moriarty's performance at all... thought it was great.

Oh WOW! That second video had me hypnotized. I hope my brain recovers from watching that. In my current delirium I am almost tempted to Netflix the movie just to see how the rest of the movie is. hahaha

Miss or ma'am. :cwink:

I apologize for the mistake. Although I tend to call everyone sir in moments like this anyway. Even my mother.

For a moment I thought you were linking to other clips of Andrew Scott proving his acting skills. Imagine my surprise when I saw those clips. :funny:

BTW, The Room is a comedy, right? It has to be.

Nope. It's a melodrama. It's marketed as a black comedy, and everyone who is a fan of it is a fan for it's comedic value, but said marketing ploy as a very hasty way of covering up the fact that the writer/director/star/producer/executive producer made a very craptacular self insert Mary Sue story about how is girlfriend was mean to him.

I watched the confrontation with Moriarty on YouTube. That was horrendous.

It has already come out in the Uk round about a couple of moths ago.
