People are being "negative" because from the script review this movie sounds like a Jack Black comedy with a bunch of lame jokes thats only purpose are to mock the Green Lantern character. And the Green Lantern deserves much better. Its what I call raping the source material.

Exactly.....I guess some people in here would enjoy a GL interpretation like this....those same people probably enjoyed CINO otherwise knows as the Halle Berry Catwoman crap.

See the parallel there? If something is so blatantly stupid an idea, then it shouldn't be given a chance. CINO should have never been made. Gigli should have never been made. Howard the Duck should never have been made. Superman 3 & 4 should never have been made. Batman Forever and Batman & Robin should never have been made. Yet, some idiot at each studio responsible thought, "WOW...if people will just give it a chance, it'll be great!!"

Guess what...they weren't great. This won't be great. If it's made, it'll be a financial and critical failure, and you'll get to sit in the same section with the 10 or 12 people who supported CINO, and be the laughing stock of everyone else in the free world with half a freakin' brain.

Besides....I don't think of it as "hating"....more like weeding through stupidity.

People like comedies. People like Green Lantern. Hence, people will really like Jack Black playing a comedic Green Lantern! This is an intriguing combination and possibly a surefire summer hit! I hope WB makes a lot of profit from this. If this film makes at least $150 million domestically, it will be proof that people love this film and that it is a good film!

For the record, Superman 3 and Batman Forever were financial successes. Even Batman and Robin didn't bomb financially like people now suggest, although it did underperform compared to its predecessors. It made its money back and generated a small profit, as most movies do.

Whether people care about the Green Lantern comic or not, a trailer that features a pudgy guy in tights doing silly s*** with a magic ring isn't going to lull people into the theatres anymore than putting Halle Berry in a skimpy outfit and having her fight an evil cosmetics company is going to guarantee a sold-out box office.

Besides, as soon as people see "Goofy Loser turns superhero starring hit comedian", they're going to say, "It's another rip-off of the mask...but with a ring".

And the reason that Fantastic Four didn't bomb was because there are people who don't care about who Dr. Doom is....and they thought the 4 were cool. Besides, if you'll go back and check the records, Fantastic Four had one of the biggest second week drop-offs ever. Get over your little hang-up and move on. Fantastic Four thoroughly sucked (aside from the Torch/Thing scenes and Alba's ass), CINO sucked, and this crap-fest will suck.

please stop comparing this to F4. they are totally different. F4 with the exception of Doom was true to the comics. The history of the F4 is basically comedic so for people to say the movie is off is false. The only thing off in the movie was Dr.Doom. This movie is way off from the jump.

Okay...okay...Everyone liked Howard the Duck when they were kids. Try watchingit today, though...it reeks.

Also, I was kind of hard on the FF. It wasn't up to MY expectations, but my wife and several others that I know loved it...although they hadn't read much or any of the comics. GL is starting off with the totally wrong approach...and it will end up with a far worse product because of it.

The fact that anyone thinks this movie can be good is just silly.
