If you basically just act like the Bay movies are non-canon to Bumblebee and onward (bar Sector 7 and the young Agent Simmons cameo), there's nothing stopping you from thinking these are reboots.

Definitely not stopping me. :funny:

Wait until Transformers: Days of Future Past where Mark Wahlberg teams up with Hailee Steinfeld.

Coincidentally, I just got a Facebook memory notification from exactly 12 years ago today of a status I posted that said "TRANSFORMERS TONIGHT!!!" before I went to see Revenge of the Fallen. Ooooof.

It's kind of sad how that film destroyed the potential for this franchise. The beginning of the end.

I know people hate the whole thing, but there was actual excitement after the 2007 movie. People were jazzed after the screening, and just seeing this on the big screen for the first time. I actually hold a lot of love for that first movie.

Then the sequels happened.

Autobots arrived on Earth in 1980s even though Bumblebee fought in WWII and battled nazis.
Yes, a lot of Autobots and Decepticons have been here for a long time but Optimus Prime arrived on Earth for the first time in 2007 in the first movie, right? There’s always a new retcon about the “secret history” of Transformers on Earth with each installment so who even knows at this point.

The Bay movies didn't even give much thought about continuity in the first place. Starscream's head literally got blown up in the third one and then Buscemi bot was trying to pawn it off two movies later in perfect condition.

And yet somehow, each sequel still made more money than the last until The Last Knight. Worldwide, at least. I know people give Disney crap for pandering to China but I've never seen that more blatantly in a Hollywood movie than Age of Extinction.

In 2007, I went into Transformers thinking it was going to suck and not even make it as a franchise. I was proven wrong. Sure it has its flaws, but it's still a good time. And that's mainly because while there are still the usual Michael Bay stupidity moments, they're fewer and far between compared to the sequels because he was still kept in check by Spielberg. He was let off the leash afterwards.

I deluded myself into thinking I enjoyed Revenge of the Fallen when I first saw it, but that's a movie that gets worse with every viewing.

I know I'm in the minority but I actually liked Dark of the Moon. It's got plenty of issues too but there was some course correction there from the second one.

Age of Extinction was a joke, and The Last Knight even more so. The only things I really liked about them were John Goodman as Hound and Grimlock being introduced since he was always one of my favorites. But it was around the moment where they did that stupid Suicide Squad scene with the Decepticons in The Last Knight where I thought to myself, "Michael Bay isn't even trying to hide the fact that these movies bore him and he's purely in it for the money". That was always his M.O. but it couldn't be more apparent than in the fifth one.

Bumblebee at least brought things down to earth and honestly it was just refreshing to get a more G1 inspired film that didn't have Bay's stink all over it. That's what I'm hoping for from Rise of the Beasts.

Its box office reminds me exactly like the Pirates franchise.

The first came out with a bang. The sequel made the most in North America, the third dropped off in NA but made the most overseas. The fourth dropped off considerably in NA, but made over a billion worldwide, and the fifth just fell off everywhere.

Look, say what you want about the first three films, but people loved them. They really registered with audiences. Bay for better or for worse took the franchise to new heights, which is saying something considering it was a popular franchise.

I’ll admit I got into transformers due to the live action films so I owe my love for them to those movies however like everyone else said after the amazing first movie they got so dumb and very “ Mountain Dew, dude bro” type humor which got annoying quick .

I think there even was a Mountain Dew robot. Anyway. Yea I fell off quick. Visual they are great but the movies themselves ruined some good characters. Glad to see them move away from that

Moving Picture Company To Handle VFX For Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts - Transformers News - TFW2005

Moving Picture Company (MPC), the masterminds behind the VFX of Disney’s Lion King “live-action” movie is undertaking the CGI work for Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts.

MPC is most known in the industry for its realistic take on animal CGI and movement. It’s not hard to speculate what sort of magic MPC will bring to the table this time (pssst… it’s Beastformers).

Apart from Lion King, MPC recently did the VFX for animals on Disney’s Cruella, Godzilla vs. Kong, Call Of The Wild, and Paramount’s Sonic The Hedgehog.

But wait, there’s more! If you are interested in working for Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts, MPC is hiring for the movie. Head on over to their official Linkedin page to apply.

Official Announcement:

“We’re excited to announce that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is coming to MPC Film! We are now hiring #VFX artists and Production crew for this action-packed movie.

‘Returning to the action and spectacle that first captured moviegoers around the world 14 years ago with the original Transformers, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.’

Get in touch with our recruiters TheFocus and join the team. Check out all our job opportunities over at The Focus’ careers page and get in contact.”

It's been pointed out a few pages back, yeah.

Is Megatron even in this though?

I have a feeling BW Megatron will be one of the villains of the film, since the Predacons are involved. Could be wrong, though.

I don’t think the actual Megatron will involved since this is connected to the other things, but with Bumblebee involving Optimus and Autobots crashing on Earth in the 80’s instead, who knows?

The continuity will be really confusing.

While I haven't kept up at all with the franchise in general the last few years, I still consider myself a Transformers fan. Beast Wars in particular holds a special place in my heart as it was my introduction to the franchise all those years ago. Man I feel old lol.

But given the way the franchise has been handled, I don't have much faith in this. Though admittedly I haven't seen Bumblebee aside from a few clips here and there. I liked what I saw though and I know that it got a good reaction overall. I hope I'm proven wrong though and maybe they'll pull it off.

I'm honestly surprised the franchise hasn't gotten a complete reboot at this point.
