Beast Wars Is Reportedly One of the Two Transformers Spinoffs in the Works

I hope we see BW Megatron since the Predacons are supposed to be in this.

While I am extremely excited to see Maximals and Predacons, as it’s been something I’ve wanted for years, you also have Autobots, Decepticons, and Terrorcons.

And as I mentioned, the 90’s setting and human cast has me meh.

Is Peter Cullen coming back for this? He spoke about his experience while voice-acting for Bumblebee and it wasn't pretty.

As a kid who grew up on Beast Wars, this news is underwhelming. There's little about this movie that actually seems interested in taking from the series.

It's set in the 90s (???) and barely has any of the main characters. What about this is Beast Wars at all?

All that sounds very confusing. Sounds very hodge-podgey.

So are the Autobots traveling back in time or the Maximals came to the 1990s?

Caple Jr. described the Maximals as ancient, but said

"And there are prehistoric animals that travel through time and space, powerful beasts," he added. "That's something new we're dropping onto the table. There are some dope characters that I'm going to introduce."

'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' Terrorcons to wreak Brooklyn havoc

I was really excited at first, but then I read this would take place in the 90’s and have human characters.

Plus, with Kingdom coming out next month, the concept of Maximals and Predacons meeting Autobots and Decepticons won’t feel as fresh. The Netflix series has its faults, but at least that will end up on prehistoric earth.

Really mixed feelings about the announcements today.

Plus, no David Kaye or Garry Chalk bums me out as I just can’t imagine Primal or BW Megatron without them.

You may be in luck in that regard, based on what someone describes at the end of this video.

Was Ultra Gear the reference? I haven't watched Beast Wars in 20 years. But was it his catchphrase?

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Will Reveal Optimus Prime's Connection to Earth

I like what Caple Jr. has to say about Optimus as a character and this movie being very G1 influenced, as well as his apparent enthusiasm for this. He’s a big fan of that era, and mentioned he watched Beast Wars growing up, so, if nothing else, we have someone who really gets and loves Transformers directing this thing.

He talks a big game, but it's another matter if he can deliver.

Sounds like a weird mish-mash of things. It’s Beast Wars but not prehistoric. It’s got Optimus on Earth in 1994 apparently but they’re saying Bumblebee and the Bay movies are still canon. I’ll wait to see what the Transformers actually look like in this version before deciding if I want to see it but it’s a Transformers movie without Michael Bay so I’m cautiously optimistic. I haven’t seen any of the director’s other works though.

I really wish that they had gone with this instead of Transformers 5 with its drunk Merlin and C-3PO singing "Move B****", but better late than never.

Autobots arrived on Earth in 1980s even though Bumblebee fought in WWII and battled nazis.
