In the Our Worlds at War series, Superman dives into the sun to gain sufficient energy to overpower Brainiac 13. The picture in my previous post is the aftermath of that sun bath. The bath makes him seem to be wreathed in flames, and and apparently gives him enough strength and power to move an entire planet (Pluto, turned Warworld according to Wikipedia.org)

When the fate of the world is at stake, like in the situation displayed in the Our Worlds at War series, I think what Superman did there was acceptable. I do not know if anyone made up any rules here, but if Son Goku is allowed to power up to different levels, then Superman should be allowed to reach is maximum levels as well.

First of all just a solar flare is equivalent to a million hydrogen bombs but yet Superman can survive passing through the heart of a Red Sun. Secondly he's survived the implosion of a sun eater cloud, which is larger than a star and consumes both their mass and engergy. Thirdly, Superman has survived and escaped from a double black hole. First of all it is never stated how powerful the Rice Cooker really is. We only know that he is stealing a portion of the energy from forces in a finite area and no body has officially said how much. I certainly have never seen Goku destroy a star so I do not even know if he can do that with his Rice Cooker. Man, you talk about Superman cheating when he plunges into the sun to power up and here Goku is stealing energy from other life forces without their knowledge. That sounds like a contradiction to me. I seriously doubt that Goku could survive a black hole since it's been proven that he could easily die from a planet destroying explosion.
