Kevin Smith couldn't be the writer of Superman, by decision of the director of Batman. Now one of his best friends is going to be Batman in a Superman movie.

How weird is that?

Now let's just hope he has literally zero influence on the movie.

I wouldn't mind a cameo. I loved his cameo in Daredevil. :p

Jay and Silent Bob get saved by Batman outside of a convenience store.

Jay high fives Batman and tells him he's "Da bomb"

Smith clearly knows his **** about Batman so it wouldn't surprise me if Affleck does get picked to write and Direct a solo that he goes to Smith. They both love Batman and are/were best friends.

Yup, I thought the same. If Affleck directs Batman spinoffs, then I would expect him to consult with Smith. They would have a blast.

And maybe recover his screenplay for Superman Lives, for a possible third film of the Man of Steel?

Brainiac and polar bears...

I don't see any sort of official collaboration happening. I get the impression that Ben amd Kevin are a bit more distant these days, and I think Ben is objective enough to work with a truly qualified writer. Being a fanboy doesn't make you qualified...have you read Smith's Batman comics??

A Fatman on Batman appearance is definitely in order though. Not doing the podcast would kinda be a slap in the face.

Yea, consulting Smith is fine, but I'm not a fan at all of Smith's writing Batman. His writing in comics for Batman sucked.

It would be cool if Fatman on Batman was actually in the next Batman movie, where Kevin Smith plays a nutjob who rants about the urban legend Batman. Would be a funny reference.

Noooo I don't want an official collaboration and I've never read his Batman comics but I really don't see Smith's style working for Batman :D he clearly gets the character though.

A Fatman on Batman should be done though. Smith already mentioned that he hopes to get him.

I haven't read his comics of Batman, but what he wrote about Daredevil was brilliant...

I love this comic.
Best Daredevil since Frank Miller.

Didn't Smith say he hadn't talked to Affleck in 3 years? Or maybe he was just joking.

He definitely has he mentions it in one of his Q+As. He sent Red State to Affleck way before anyone saw it and Affleck loved it, he then took some of the cast for Argo.

They are still friends just nowhere near as close. Seeing as Smith really only focuses on Podcasting now and Affleck has a whole rebuilt career.

Yeah, let's keep Smith away from Batman movies. And Superman movies. And movies.

And comics.

i'm a View Askewniverse fan and I liked zack and miri. otherwise I haven't seen any of his other flicks. copout I heard was terrible and I have a strong dislike for tracy morgan so I don't really plan on watching that. red state I have yet to see. and everyone hates on jersey girl but I kinda wanna give it a chance.

so for the most part i'm a fan of him. :o so I feel kinda bad that you guys are giving him all this hate. lol

Red State is great. Apart from the weird ending. He should have either gone with his original end or a completely different one.

I'd like it if Affleck consults but not a writing partner or anything. He knows his stuff and cares about the character as does Affleck.

It's like having a best friend who is completely and utterly obsessed with Doctor Who and you get hired to be the new head writer, you'd just go to him for advice. You wouldn't just ignore them.

I never knew Affleck was an actual comic book fan boy

Anyone looking for a laugh should just type in "Kevin Smith Ben Affleck" in Youtube. There are so many videos, mainly monologues from Kevin Smith, that paint Ben Affleck as this hapless, long-suffering victim of countless pranks and ribs from Smith.
