Well, what do you think?

I'll take him over any of those other clowns being thrown around for the part any day.

I am very curious to see how he does, so yes I think he is a good choice.

Although Scott Adkins still would have been a good choice. You may wind up seeing Afflek directing one of these films.

Where's my on the fence option :oldrazz:

I think it has so much potential. The guy is bringing so much to the table. He's now a huge contender for directing the next lot of DC films.

Should have been a third option for those of us that have mixed feelings. Overall, I'm leaning towards yes though.

I thought about a "not sure" option, but I think that tends to absorb everyone in the early days of big news like this. I think yes/no invites people to be more reflective.

I don't have the superpower of looking into the future but I'm confident in Affleck and Snyder. So, yes!

I think that aside from the few favorites I had for the role, Affleck is way above most of the talent level of the actors most fans still up to yesterday were recommending for the role, I have to say the surprise of the casting has got me the most excited. When I saw this last night I literally thought it was a joke, until I went and read it on every single news outlet known to the internet world.

I am in no way a huge Affleck fan. It wasn't until The Town and Argo that I considered him a good actor. He has matured in Hollywood I his abilities, imo. I am anxious to see what he can bring to the Batman character. Outside of having the look, I can really see him doing a really good 70's Neal Adams styled Batman. Can't wait to see the overall direction they take.

I would have preferred a MUCH younger Batman. One who was more capable of fighting like we see in the comics. Quick, stealthy with tons of gadgets.

Why do you think a 41-year old actor can't portray that, out of interest?

This is a public poll? Wooops ;)

But I don't think he's a terrible choice. I just feel like there's better out there.

I'm really glad to see your optimism Shadowbat!

WB's not trying to catch Marvel anymore. They're just about telling the next story and getting the most buzz, period.

I truly believe this casting points to Wonder Woman in the third film and I think that WB is just going to stick to those three characters from here on out if, IF, they can make Wonder Woman work with Supes and Bats.

In terms of storytelling we dont have to thread old ground with another origin story and it creates good conflict to have a seasoned veteran angered by such a huge change to the status quo that the events of MOS bring.

Ignoring the origin has nothing to do with age.

Superman and Batman always felt like peers to me. Making Batman older changes up the dynamic a bit. And now that the guy cast as Batman is actually a huge star and the guy cast as Superman isn't... that dynamic switches up even further. They don't feel like equals now.
