Sold.

I have faith in Affleck. All this crap about Daredevil pisses me off, people act like the last ten years haven't happened.

His abilities as an actor hasn't changed dude. He just does much better movies.

Argo is a very good movie, I like how it wasn't one sided

Yes, Affleck is a great choice.

Even better if Affleck directs the next Solo Bat flick.

At first I thought it was a joke so I was all:

Then I found out the news was real:

wow cool minap.

I can't wait for the Snyder suit. It will def be pretty(and awesome)

I just wonder what the WB are doing this morning, they probably are aware of what is going on, I am surprised they have not addressed this yet, plus I am surprised Ben hasnt said anything yet.

Its going to be a long two year :(

We need a middle ground choice. As a possible help to Goyer on writing and possibly doing a solo Bat film in the future, I love Affleck. But as Batman I'm not sold yet.

When I read the news on my phone I literally wanted to smash my phone, I don't know what the hell the WB is thinking in their effed up minds in getting Affleck, just because he got critical directing acclaim for Argo doesn't make him the obvious choice for Batman.

In the case of him as Daredevil I didn't care because I wasn't invested in DD but with Batman I have years of collecting the comics that of course this news is going to upset the fandom.

At this point it's just a wait and see what turd this will turn out, after all when Micheal Keaton was cast there were lots of turmoil and he turned out terrific but in the case of Affleck he's not even a good actor.

Maybe they'll cast Kevin Smith as Harvey Bullock.

The suspense at the end of Argo. Man that was tense.

Ben is a big Batman fan and I wonder if this means there will be a big Batman villain in WF? That could only help its performance.

His abilities as an actor hasn't changed dude. He just does much better movies.

I see where youre coming from, however I think he's greatly improved as an actor.

Man the online hate has not subsided. #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck is one of the top trending things right now.

Am I wrong to think the backlash here is actually bigger than when Heath was cast? It's probably just social media that's magnifying everything i guess?

Wasn't Affleck also really close to starring "Year One", way back when?? Either way, I'm cool with this. Maybe get a Riddler bat-film down the line with Affleck directing and Justice League of course.

So much anger at this. Wow! And yet I'm pleasantly surprised at some of the optimism I've encountered here. More than I thought.

I'm ok with this decision and excited to see how it turns out.

To anyone *****ing: You Argoing to see the film anyway.

I wanted to know your thoughts on the matter
Thank you

LOL.

Yea im really bummed. I cant stand Affleck. Iv seen ONE film where i thought, 'yea this guy has some acting chops', and that was the Town and the only other movie he was in that i thought was even worth a damn was Argo, but his performance in front of the camera wasn't anything special.

Dude has talent behind the camera, but in front of it? He's as a pedestrian an actor as you could possibly get.

WB is just going with who they feel is hot at the moment and he deff is, so i have to give them props. But they arent looking at this from a creative stance, which sucks.

Has DC Comics said anything yet on the casting?

Warners and DC has a press release for it:

Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne. Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.” The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is slated to open on July 17, 2015.

Last month’s surprise announcement of the new movie featuring both Superman and Batman created a wave of excitement and immediately fueled discussion and debate—among fans as well as in the media—about who would put on the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego.

Snyder successfully re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster “Man of Steel,” which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing. The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together. Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent. The film will also reunite “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

In the announcement, Silverman stated, “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.” Snyder also expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

Sue Kroll added, “We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes.”

Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award®-winning Best Picture “Argo,” which he also directed and produced, earning acclaim and a BAFTA Award nomination for his performance in the film, as well as a number of directing honors. In 2010, he starred in and directed the hit crime thriller “The Town.” His recent acting work also includes “The CompanyMen,” “State of Play,” and “Hollywoodland,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Earlier in his career, Affleck starred in and co-wrote (with Matt Damon) “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won an Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay.

The new Super Hero film is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan and Wesley Coller serving as executive producers. Production is expected to begin in 2014. The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.
