Alfred says it's a new layer of armor. Plus in the ultimate cut we see the white eyes so it has retractable lenses too.

It was a blink and you will miss it type of thing.

When Lex arrives, via motorcylce, to one of his facilities after it was brutally ransacked by Batman for his kryptonite, you see him looking at security footage of Batman taking down his guards. It is in that footage that we see Batman use his white lens.

There's a brief description in the Guide to the Caped Crusader / Guide to the Man of Steel: Movie Flip Book.

The most technologically advanced part of the Batsuit is the armor that covers Batman's head, called the cowl. Its outer layer is reinforced, so it can protect Batman like a helmet. Underneath the titanium is a tightly packed tangle of wires, microchips, speakers and sensors. Lensors can come down to cover Batman's eyes, allowing him to see in the dark as well as read information projected onto them. A throat microphone alters Batman's voice, making it different from Bruce Wayne's and scarier.

People would have received his Batman more favorably in BvS.
