Comics Ben Reilly...returns?!

What if Ben is the one responsible for releasing the Vulture?

Because even though he died to save his life, Peter hasn't mentioned him in 10 years!

If they wanted to bring Ben back for good I think it should be within the pages of Exiles.

I dunno, after reading the solicitation fot FNSM #14 im not sure its gonna be what he think:

FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #14
The Story: It’s the return of Peter Parker’s old flame, Deb Whitman! Unfortunately for Peter, she’s written a tell-all memoir about her relationship with him, entitled “How Spider-Man Ruined My Life.” Ouch! As if that weren’t bad enough, the Vulture has been set loose from prison to scavenge for Spider-Man, but who’s behind his release and what nefarious scheme do they have up their sleeve?
32 PGS./Rated A ...$2.99

I mean, if Ben Reilly was really returning don't you think the solicitation would have implied that something big was gonna happen. I mean for a big event like Ben's revival you would think Marvel woulda hinted us by saying somthing like " Someone from Peter's past is coming back, the answer...will shock you!"
This issue seems like its gonna be pretty basic from the solicitation

he could be behind vultures release, bringing him back as a bad guy wouldnt make sernse though unless osborne had made him crazy with goblin formula or summin

edit i see someone else had though of that i just didnt see a page 2!

Sounds like more "shock therapy", like the recent return of Ben Parker...

<sigh>.....:csad:

Even if it is, no one wanted Uncle Ben back, but EVERYONE wants Brother Ben back!

I just want good stories, like im getting over in Senational Spider-Man.

Ultimately, what did the "return" of Ben Parker add to the Spider legacy?

Nothing.

But hey; if they can craft an interesting and exciting storyline by once again drudging up the past, then i'll gladly come back here and eat crow. Again: I just want good stories, not shock therapy.

Hmmmm, I guess I'll be buying FNSM again......or atleast one issue.

About "Uncle Ben" coming back, Nothing has been done... YET! It's called a secondary (or even a third) plot thread, you know, the kind they use to have back in yesteryear. I'm sure PAD will deal with it when it needs to be dealt with, the same as "Ms. Arrow". And really, how come this isn't in the FNSM thread?? you guys are so unfair.

It should be called boring, and un-inspired, imo.

CLONES DON'T DISINTEGRATE FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME!

God damn, how long before we bash that into all yer FREAKIN' SKULLS?!

It was a continuity glitch as an excuse to just END things right there and clear up all questions, a continuity glitch that can be USED and EXPLOITED to bring Ben back without fanboys COMPLAINING about continuity!

As fer Ben's return, I dread what they'll do with it 'cause this new world of Spidey well, sucks. An' I don't want MY Spidey to be tainted with the stench of their bad decisions.

hummm... but what about Smoke and mirrors part 3, where the 2nd Gwen clone disintegrates? or Jack, the midget parker clone for that matter? he dissolved into nothing too.

seems to me like the glitch might've been the standard after all :d

Oh and hopefuly Ben stays dead. I like the character enough not to want Marvel to crap all over his sacrifice by bringing him back.

Please, Please don't f*** it up. I owe my comic collecting life to the clone saga. And I owe my understanding of comic characters as characters with depth, to Ben Reilly. I can stand the rebirths, costume changes and unmasking of Peter Parker. But don't f*** up Ben Reilly. Do it right. I can't stand the steel punch to my jaw that messing it up would feel like.

Those were incomplete clones though. They were the half baked ones, like the eight million Spider-men Kaine fought. Benjy boy/Peter and Gwen were the ones who were perfect, and would never degenerate, which is why the Jackal spends most of his time, trying to hunt them down.

I personally just wanna see Peter fight side by side with his "brother". Ben was sucha great character, and in many ways he truly acted like he could be the "real" Peter Parker. But the best part for me about the whole saga, was seeing the two spidermen fight side by side. Peter always fights battles by himself ( the new avengers stuff doesnt count), and i think that it would be cool if Peter had a partner to fight with him, i mean lord knows he coulda used one when he fought morlun. The two had such great chemistry and would make a good team fighting evil. I hope if this is true Ben gets somehow involved in the civil war, i could definitly picture Peter turning to Ben for help on how to get outta this mess of a situation he's in...

Yes indeed, only incomplete clones disintegrate. Ben never died... I don't care what the writer's intent was, it's all subjective and liable to be retconned one day...

Lets hope that it's in a flashback because that's the only logical reason for Ben Reilly to be in any recent ongoing Spider-Man books. Maybe someone will ask Peter a question as to why there were two Spider-Men running around at one time, and then...bada boom...Ben Reilly flashback, *****.

Nah, I bet he comes back as a villian like whats-his-name came back in Batman:Hush. Todd?
Anyways, he probably thinks that he is still the origional and not the clone.

First of all, Ben Reilly clearly died. Plus, if it's another Spider-Man clone, technically it wouldn't be Ben Reilly because Ben Reilly had certain experiences during his five year "exile" that made him who he is. There's a couple of possibilities for Ben Reilly's return:

1. Peter, since quiting the registration side is on the run, and since everyone knows Spider-Man is Peter Parker, Peter adopts the identity of "Ben Reilly" as an alias when he's not in costume.

2. Spider-Man is assumed to be dead. This forces Peter to not only adopt the "Ben Reilly" alias to ensure his enemies don't find out he's still alive, but decides to don the Black Costume, promoting the idea that, when Peter first wore it, people thought he was a different Spider-Man because he wasn't wearing the red and blues. Here, it promotes the idea in the publics mind that A. There were two different Spider-Men running around and that the black costumed Spidey had been missing in action for years until his "return" or B. That Peter Parker (who everyone thinks is dead) was not the real Spider-Man.

3. There is a "Ben Reilly", who is not only Peter's clone but was a clone created by Tony Stark. Just as Stark cloned Thor, he also cloned other Avengers as part of the fifty state initivite, including Spider-Man. However, the Spider-Man clone, like the Thor clone, was psychotic, but had somehow escaped (everyone assumed the clone disintegrated after it left its cloning chamber) and quickly realized the truth about what he was. So, in revenge, he decides to get rid of Spider-Man by sending the Vulture on him.

HOW DID HE CLEARLY DIE!!?? if you say "because he turned into dust" im gonna go insane just read this threead how many times does it need to be explained that complete clones do not disintergrate!!!!!! maybe he died i could concede there was an offpanel death but by no means is it clear and it definatly was not an on panel death!!

sorry it just annoys me when it is brought up at least 5 times in a Reilly thread even though its been explained at least 6 or 7 times previously in the thread

Ummm...I think he's come back from being "disintegrated to dust" before...

Why isn't he just degenerating fast cause he's mortally wounded? It's not like he suddenly "disintegrated", his organ systems were failing...wouldn't he degenerate like Kaine?
