Civil War Best cinematic Spider-Man suit?

Which suit is the best?

  • Sam Raimi Trilogy Suit (2002-2007)

  • The Amazing Spider-Man Suit (2012)

  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit (2014)

  • Captain America: Civil War Suit (2016)

The TASM 2 suit was a bad copy of the Raimi Spider-man suit. It reeked of studio interference, like the execs walked into the room of the costume design department and said, "make it look more like the first three films", and so what you got was the Raimi costume with slightly different coloring, different eye lenses and a minimal amount of aspects from the first TASM film.
Boom. Bingo. Nailed it.

The ASM1 suit has grown on me over time, it still is the most Ditko esque to me.

There is no denying that the ASM2 suit is by far the most comic-booky suit.

Civil Wars feels like a special one-off suit Peter would make for a huge battle, not a normal Spider-Man suit. Im on the fence about it

The ASM2 suit would be my favorite if it had retained ASM1's texture. I'd have also preferred similar, if only smaller, eyes, but they didn't bother me a huge deal.

Like others said, though, it was ultimately just a ripoff of the Raimi suit. The differences between them are negligible.

ASM2 still gets my vote, but this one is a definite second on my list.

This one definately. It literally made me forget any other costume existed when I saw it.

I know this is gonna sound very petty, but I just can't get over the raised webbing, I hate it so much.
I mean, I have no problem admitting that Raimi's and ASM2's suit are objectively speaking the best looking ones, but man, that f***ing raised webbing is such an eyesore.

Far worse than CW's pointless black stripes, which is why my vote goes to the new one.
Another reason I like the latter so much is because it's not an overdesigned mess like so many of the MCU costumes. It's as simple as it should be.

My favorite suit is probably ASM2 followed by the Raimi suit and then Civil War and lastly ASM1

The Civil War suit reminds me of Japanese Spider-Man

Nah, MCU looks way more comic-accurate than TASM2 in almost every way.

MCU is very accurate, they've taken away some of the over threading texture on the others which I always thought was a bit weird.

Being able to more easily spot the influences =/= a more comic accurate suit. I think they're both very true to the source material.

Granted, I'm not much of a Spider-Man fan.

1) Raimi
2) TAS2
3) CA: CW
4) TAS1

The more I look at this one, the more aggravated I am by the black accents. Take those away and this new suit is pretty much perfect. The fact that it falls just short of its potential is quite frustrating.

Oh well. Maybe for the solo.

I actually miss the raised webbing on this suit.

1. Spiderman 3
2. Spiderman 2

3. Spiderman 1
4. Cap Civil War
5. ASM 2
6. ASM

I think an underrated aspect to these costumes is the proportions/physique. As good as the TASM2 costume was (for a classic look), the overall look felt meh because Garfield had a lousy physique. He was just skinny, and at worst skinny-fat. Maguire filled out the suit much better (although he filled it a bit too much in SM3 :oldrazz:).

The CW suit seems perfect in that regard...he's not stubby like Maguire or lanky like Garfield. Proportions are a huge part of aesthetics, and Holland/MCU nailed it.

I'll admit that the shot was a bit jarring because he seemed so much brighter and glossier than everyone else, almost like a video game, but obviously that will look much better in film.

With the classic back emblem and the flexible lenses (shouldn't everyone be happy now??), it's a 9.5/10. Not sold on the black stripes, probably because it's very bold and new, but for now I like them a lot. I do wish they went with a lighter blue though.

Also one caveat...this suit is great for a young Parker. For an adult, married version, I'd prefer a more classic look.

I love the Civil War suit but I want really badly to see a pic of Tom in the suit instead of the CGI version on the trailer.

It's pretty simple: TASM2's Spider-man was more accurate to the Todd-Mcfarlane era of Spidey. Meanwhile, the CW suit is closer to the Ditko original.

Naw, take a look at the CW suit. There is obnoxious design work all over the place.

The ASM2 suit looks as simple as anyone drawing it in the comics. It doesn't have weird defined seam lines, capsule belt, black stripes everywhere, mechanical camera lense eyes, wrist bands and that's just from a 3 second trailer bit lol.

The mask design for CW is fantastic for what it is and I really like the web design even if it does look a bit cheap.

The whole suit is very "Captain America" to me. Not a bad thing, but it follows the same route as Caps suit. Taking the look from the comics and grounding it, adding in random seams and straps and junk. It's almost too similar in design work. The addition of the shield in the one shot we have, just tops it off hahaha.

Should have kept it more simple, but like I said this suit looks like a special combat suit spiderman would have. Not his normal everyday suit. If that's the case then... Sweet.

All about context now. That's very important to me.

I'm absolutely loving the new suit. It has to be between the this and both of the suits from the Amazing Spider-man franchise.

I'm absolutely in love with the suit from The Amazing Spider-man 2. If the symbol had been a little higher up on the chest, it would have been perfect. I'm a huge fan of big eyes and that suit nailed it.

The Captain America: Civil War suit is a thing of beauty, though. I love the color breaks on the shins and shoulders. I love the belt. The animated eyes look awesome and will give an added level of expression and the possibility to use them for comedic and dramatic effect is exciting.

I love the small chest symbol and the classic spider on the back of the suit. Would have liked arm-pit webbing in this suit. It would definitely look good and fit with this suit (as it is clearly inspired by Steve Ditko/John Romita Sr.

It's tough to make choose between any of the suits (I'm a huge fan of the Rami suits, as well. But the above suits are definitely my favorites).

I will always love the regal sleekness of the Raimi suit. I love the ASM2 Spidey suit too but that's because it's very close to the Raimi suit.

I appreciate ASM1's suit for being different though a bit overly busy. The Civil War costume has some of that problem as well with the needless black. Which is a shame because if it weren't for that it would be a perfect adaptation of the classic comic Spidey suit.

I want more, I wonder when we'll start getting spots. Or do you think this is a one time deal like Doomsday?

They're both true to the source material but his suit has a more "classic" look to it. It's the Romita suit modernized for the MCU.

I think so far the movie representations of the Spider-man suits have all been on point. This isn't like Batman.

Personally.

Spider-man 2 - Spider-man - The The Amazing Spider-man 2 / Civil War ---- The Amazing Spider-man.

I mean...no. I really like the new suit, but TASM2 was basically a spot on translation of the mid 90s Spidey look. It's more comic accurate than the new suit if only because it doesn't have the extra details this new one des, segmented shoulder design etc. That doesn't make it better or worse, but it is more accurate. That's not debatable.

I personally really like this new suit. The Romita eyes look great, and I love the brighter colors. I'm excited to see more of it.
