Best / Worst of 2009

Indeed. I had a horrible Chrismas that year, and I thought..."Well, might as well end the night on a high note by seeing The Spirit!"....

:(

LOL, sorry to hear it, man. The thing with that movie was it was like they were trying to make it horrible. There are ways of making things campy and over the top with making it cringeworthy. But Frank Miller apparently has no concept of that. I literally felt embarrassed for the actors.

Thank God it flopped and there won't be a sequel.

I actually had arguments on that movie on the Spirit boards. People actually defeneded it....

So is Taken.

The trouble with that theory is there are people in North America who think that the North American releases equate to THE release year. The fact is people will supply what they've seen, when they've seen it, so jumping in and trying to lecture people about it is pointless (unless the point is to come off looking sanctimonious).
Thanks for backing me up mate......Kinda.

that movie needed what made sin city great.
Nudity, violence, vice...
not some pussbag hero in a red tie.

hey, sanctimoniousity is underrated.

My favorite movies of the year have to be (in no particular order)

Inglorious Basterds - Tarantino at his best
District 9 - One of the best Sci Fi movies I have ever seen
Watchmen- Really enjoyed this adaptation
Star Trek- Best Reboot I have ever seen
Gi Joe (Yes I enjoyed it)- Expected little and was really surprised
(500) Days of Summer- Amazing direction, great story
The Hangover- Really funny movie
Paranormal Activity- Love the way the movie was done. Really creepy.
Avatar- Although I felt it was predictable, unoriginal and cliche, the effects were amazing. The movie was highly entertaining.
Fast and Furious - Dont ask me why. Dumb, mindless action. I was entertained. felt like it was a good follow up.
Zombieland- Man I really loved this movie lol.

Worse movies

Transformers 2- Too much comedy for me
Terminator Salvation- Lame
Final Destination 3D- Garbage
New Moon- My wife made me see it. I hated it. Face Punch anyone? urgh

Best Director has to go to Marc Webb. He did an amazing job on (500) Days of Summer.

You should post this in the unpopular film opinion thread  I liked the movie too, by the way.

see TAC trashing the movie in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2..

Best opening credits scene: Watchmen
Best comedy scene: The speech on the roof at the start of The Hangover
Chilling characterisation: Han Landa in Inglorious Basterds

Yea but sometimes really, really stupid things are funny. That sounds funny.

I haven't seen The Spirit. So I think I'll stay away from it.

I'm officially changing my Worst Movie of 2009 to "Halloween 2". What a piece of ****. And that's coming from someone who actually liked Rob Zombie's remake of the first one.

Biggest comeback of the year: Nic Cage-Bad Lieutenant. ****ing insane performance!

Forgot to add this to my last post. I really think The Spirit was the worse movie of the year. I actually walked out about an hour in. I couldn't stomach the movie any longer.
