Beware the Batman - Part 1

This statement did catch my eye:

When asked for a statement, a representative for Cartoon Network said updates will be forthcoming soon about future plans for Beware The Batman.

Hmm... ''updates will be forthcoming''. Could CN be choosing to air the show outside of DC Nation in the coming weeks? A last minute renewal with a serious creative overhaul? Or simply an announcement that the show will return on X date and blow through the last 15 episodes (Never to speak of it again?). Yep, that seems like the most logical.

I also have a strong feeling that CN are slowly trying to phase DC Nation out of their programming. I think I read somewhere that they signed a two-year contract with WB (Or was it three?)... so technically they could phase it out after March of this year.

I wouldn't put much worth into that statement. They'll eventually have to air the remaining episodes, and will probably be the "update".

i wish another station would pick up this show

it's actually really excellent and criminally underrated. perhaps Nick could pick it up? how could would it be to have Beware the Batman and TMNT back to back on Saturday mornings?

As long as they don't shuffle it off to Nicktoons network after a few episodes. That's what they did with Digimon Fusion. They had Power Rangers and Digimon back to back, it was epic!.....then it was gone...

Beware the Batman comic wasn't listed on the April solicitations:

According to the solicitation details provided by DC Comics, there is currently no issue of Beware The Batman – the monthly title based on the Cartoon Network animated series of the same name – scheduled for release in April 2014. The World’s Finest has inquired about the issue, but no response has been provided as of yet.
It's either been cancelled or going on a bi-monthly schedule. I'm assuming the latter but I guess we'll find out.

'BEWARE THE BATMAN': NEW EPISODES TO AIR.. ON DVD?!

'Beware the Batman': New Episodes to Air.. On DVD?!
It's a race to what will happen first: two new episodes being released along with previous ones on a DVD set, or Cartoon Network airing the two new episodes in less than a month. PLACE YOUR BETS!!!

As we've been reporting, Beware the Batman still isn't on Cartoon Network's schedule for January. Well, come next month if the network still isn't airing episodes there will be a way to see them. On February 18 (as listed by Amazon), Warner Brothers will be releasing Beware the Batman Season 1 Vol. 1 on DVD. It'll include thirteen episodes with two episodes that haven't even aired yet ("Attraction" which features the return of Magpie, and "Fall".. which we have no info on).

This sort of thing isn't old. The previous example of this practice was during the final season of Avatar: The Last Airbender; three episodes hadn't aired in the US, due to a lengthy hiatus Nickelodeon put on the show. The trio of episodes were released on DVD and latered pirated to the delight of that fanbase. Eventually, Nick would air the episodes, but two months later.

So you hear that clock Cartoon Network? It's ticking on how much time you have to show those new episodes. Or else someone is probably going to do exactly that. Tick tock. Tick tock.

It's a sad world when a Batman cartoon can't make it past a first season. :(

Or maybe it's a good thing because other characters will get a chance. :o

this gets cancelled yet trash like Teen Titans Go is still on the air

it is sad that this might get cancelled, but I'm sorry Green Day, Teen Titans Go! is awesome. A lot of the other shows on CN though, are not.

You give DC too much faith.

Also, if anyone cares, the comic based on the show has been cancelled. It only lasted 6 issues. At least YJ and GL:TAS comics got to have their comics until all their episodes aired.

This show is treated even worse than the aftermentioned.

This has yet to be confirmed as shown by my previous link.

It's highly possible that the comic will be going bi-monthly.

I'm sure you guy have already discussed this but on Fatman on Batman Kevin Smith goes on this 20 minute love rant about this series and then Paul Dini drops the bomb that Cartoon Network pulled it and you can just tell Kevin Smith's world was just destroyed.

He takes like 6 hits out of his pipe after hearing that news. If this whole thing weren't so tragic it would be hilarious. It's still pretty hilarious actually. :lmao:

The Beware the Batman comic has been officially cancelled:

When asked for a statement on the book’s cancellation, a representative for DC Entertainment told The World’s Finest, “We will not be continuing with the Beware The Batman comic book. We encourage you to check out some of our other kids comics titles like Teen Titans Go! and Scribblenauts Unmasked

The Beware The Batman comic title held impressive sales in the direct market, with the first issue selling nearly 20,000 copies – a high number for an all-ages comic. This number does not include digital and newsstand sales.

Somewhat strange if you ask me (Certainly with the strong sales of the first issue)... usually they announce the end of a series with a 'FINAL ISSUE' tag on solicitations. This comic didn't even get that luxury so it sounds like a very last minute decision.

And it also makes it the shortest tie-in comic based on a DC animation property.

Oh well... and no DC, I will not be buying Teen Titans Go! or Scribblenauts Unmasked.

Wow.

They're definitely phasing out the whole DC block now. Their contract ends pretty soon too right? So much for that I guess.

Still glad that we got a relatively fleshed out Young Justice toon in comparison to Green Lantern and Beware the Batman. Trying to see the silver lining in all of this.

I'm starting to think that CN execs didn't really care for DC Nation and WB pushed them into it.

Disappointing but we all saw the writing on the wall when they pulled the cartoon.

That's how I knew they were cancelling it. At least with GL:TAS, they made an announcement beforehand that the title was switching to bi-monthly. I also have little to no faith in DC and CN, and as usual, they didn't prove me wrong.

I'm not a huge GL:TAS fan, but at least that got to end on a very conclusive note, with a couple of small threads to re-visit if it ever had a new season.

Let's see how Beware's arc ends, if CN even airs the rest of the season.

From what was posted in the thread earlier it's more likely you'll see how Beware ends on DVD/Blu-Ray first.
